Stoughton's Middle School Hockey Program announces tryouts in advance of 2012-2013 season.

The following is submitted to Stoughton Patch: Tryouts for Stoughton's Middle School Hockey Team will be 3:30 to 4:50 p.m. August 20 and 27 at the Asiaf Rink at Brockton High School. Tryouts are open to all Stoughton middle school students entering the 6th, 7th or 8th grade in September. No positions are guaranteed to returning players. There is no charge for tryouts. This year the team will be playing in the Foxboro Sports Center, Middle School Hockey League. They will be playing in a B2 Division. All Divisions in Middle School are no check (no check does not mean no contact, however). The league will start the weekend of September 7. Stoughton Fire earned a 3-1 win over the Stoughton Police Saturday evening at the Asiaf Rink in Brockton in a charity hockey game to benefit the Friends of Stoughton Hockey organization.
After earning their first win in the series in 2011, the Stoughton Fire Department proved it was not a fluke, beating the Stoughton Police Department for the second straight year in the annual “Guns ‘N Hoses” Hockey game. The Fire Department won this year’s charity hockey game, played Saturday night, March 24 at the Asiaf Arena in Brockton, by a score of 3-1. The game benefits the Friends of Stoughton Hockey (FOSH). The Police Department won the first four games in this series, but after two-straight wins for the SFD, the police only hold a 4-2 game advantage in the six year history of the Guns ‘N Hoses event. GUNS & HOSES: March 24 at 5:20 p.m., The Stoughton Fire and Police Departments are set to face off in the Sixth Annual Guns N’ Hoses Benefit Hockey Game. The two teams will meet at the Asiaf Rink, Brockton High School, where the Fire Dept. hopes to defend the victory they earned a year ago. In February, the two teams faced each other to raise money for the Fisher House. In an evenly contested match the two teams were deadlocked at a goal a piece when the final seconds ticked off the clock. This time the two departments will face off to raise money for Friends Of Stoughton Hockey (F.O.S.H.). F.O.S.H. is a 501 (c) non-profit organization dedicated to helping young hockey players improve their hockey skills. Each year F.O.S.H. conducts a …

MIDDLE SCHOOL HOCKEY TRYOUTS: On Monday, August 22 and Monday, August 29, from 3:30 - 4:50 p.m. at Asiaf Arena in Brockton are tryouts for the Stoughton Middle School hockey team. Fifteen players will be named to the Stoughton Middle School Hockey Team. Players not named to the team are encouraged to stay on as alternate players. Alternate players will practice with the team and in the event a player can't make a game, an alternate player will be called to fill in. Tryouts are free. Practices begin September 5 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:20 p.m. and will run through April 23.
