A two-alarm fire ripped through a garage on Bay Road in Easton Monday afternoon. The Stoughton Fire Department provided mutual aid.
A two-alarm fire caused extensive damage to a garage and house on Bay Road in Easton Monday afternoon. The Stoughton Fire Department was one of four area departments to assist Easton Fire crews in fighting the blaze. Thanks in part to two good Samaritans, though, nobody was injured. Easton Fire Chief Kevin Partridge said Easton residents Mike Boyd and Bob Cummings were driving by 331 Bay Road when they saw the entire garage of the house engulfed in flames. Resident Robert Thorton was outside calling to his wife Anthea, who was inside the house. She wasn't hearing him and was unaware of the fire to the adjacent garage. Four Arrested After Brawl Breaks Out at Stoughton Baby Shower A baby shower at Club Luis de Camoes on Porter Street in Stoughton the evening of Saturday, Jan. 12 turned into a full-fledged brawl that took 20 police officers nearly an hour to quell. Four from Brockton ended up getting arrested, including one juvenile. Nearly 200 people, including children, were at the baby shower, which started at 9 p.m. A fight, which quickly escalated, broke out a little after 11:30 p.m. Stoughton Police responded, but needed assistance from three other local police departments as well as the State Police and Norfolk County Sheriff's Office to quell the brawl. Two were injured after a trailer in Easton's mobile home community suffered "extensive damage" following an early morning blaze Monday morning, Oct. 22. The Stoughton Fire Department provided mutual assistance.
The Stoughton Fire Department, along with fire departments from three other local communities, assisted the Easton Fire Department in fighting an early morning blaze in a mobile home community, located off Route 138/Turnpike St. in Easton. Two were injured in Monday's fire which left a trailer with "extensive damage." Easton Fire Chief Kevin Partridge said fire officials responded to the blaze and were able to treat two victims. Two fire engines and one ladder truck arrived at the scene. "Two occupants including the owner of the trailer escaped the fire but were treated for smoke inhalation and transported to Morton hospital [in Taunton]," he said. Firefighters from Stoughton, Sharon and Canton worked to put out a fire at a building on Southworth Court in Stoughton on Sunday. There were no injuries.
While there was potential for a more serious blaze, thanks to the quick work of firefighters, a fire at an old machine shop on Southworth Court in Stoughton early Sunday evening was extinguished, causing only moderate damage to the front corner of the brick building. Once a machine shop, the structure is now used as storage for building materials by its owner, Stoughton Fire Chief Mark Dolloff said. It is located at the end of Southworth Ct., which is off Canton St. The fire started around 6 p.m. on July 15 on a large stack of pallets in close proximity to the building, but then spread to the roof area hanging over the structure, and then to the interior of the building, Dolloff said.
