In a statement, Brown's camp said it was "not appropriate to go forward with a political debate when a disaster strikes."
There will be no final debate between Republican Senator Scott Brown and Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren, because of Hurricane Sandy. The two were scheduled to debate Tuesday on WGBH-TV. "The Scott Brown campaign today announced that out of concern for the hardship faced by people in the path of Hurricane Sandy that he will not be participating in tomorrow's fourth and final debate," said Brown Communication Director Colin Reed. "It is simply not appropriate to go forward with a political debate when a disaster strikes. With Warren holding a small lead in the polls, and Brown getting a key endorsement from the Boston Herald, who do you think has the momentum coming into the final days of the election?
Democrat Elizabeth Warren is up by five points over incumbent Republican Scott Brown in the latest WBUR/MassINC poll of the Massachusetts senate race. That's a near-total reversal of the BUR poll last month, which had Brown up by four on Oct. 9. In fact, Warren has been trending upwards in most recent polling. The New York Times' FiveThirtyEight blog has Warren up by four in an average of recent polls. The blog, which uses advanced statistical modeling akin to baseball sabermetrics (think Moneyball) gives Warren an 89 percent chance of winning the election. DEMOCRATS HOLD AWARDS DINNER: The Stoughton Democratic Town Committee handed out a number of awards on Oct. 18, at a dinner at Chinatown Restaurant. John Kavin, who co-chaired the event with Donna Smith, was the evening's host. Roberto Soto was vice chair of the event. State Rep. Lou Kakfa (D-Stoughton) was there to help present the awards. About 40 people gathered in the restaurant's function room for delicious food, and conversation of how to bring about Democratic victory in November. Obama and Warren shirts were the fashion statement. The most prestigious award of the night, The John Joseph Moakley Lifetime Achievement Award went to Steven Fradkin, owner of Wizard of Ads in Canton, and a big cog in the Democratic machine in the State. …

With polls showing a neck-and-neck race for Massachusetts' U.S. Senate seat, Republican Sen. Scott Brown and Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren came with claws sharpened to their second debate Monday night at Lowell's Tsongas Arena. The debate, moderated by NBC's David Gregory, lasted about an hour. Even with its scattered punches and zings, the debate may not be a game changer. It was generally predictable and lacking much about specific national issues, and Gregory spent most of the time asking about character attacks. Republican Senator Scott Brown faced off against Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren Thursday night in a debate televised by WBZ-TV. The Thursday debate was the first of four planned tilts between the candidates, and it saw disagreement between the two on just about every topic. Polls have seesawed over the last week, with Brown and Warren swapping small leads, as they have throughout the campaign.
