A two-alarm fire caused extensive damage to a garage and house on Bay Road in Easton Monday afternoon. The Stoughton Fire Department was one of four area departments to assist Easton Fire crews in fighting the blaze. Thanks in part to two good Samaritans, though, nobody was injured. Easton Fire Chief Kevin Partridge said Easton residents Mike Boyd and Bob Cummings were driving by 331 Bay Road when they saw the entire garage of the house engulfed in flames. Resident Robert Thorton was outside calling to his wife Anthea, who was inside the house. She wasn't hearing him and was unaware of the fire to the adjacent garage. Four Arrested After Brawl Breaks Out at Stoughton Baby Shower A baby shower at Club Luis de Camoes on Porter Street in Stoughton the evening of Saturday, Jan. 12 turned into a full-fledged brawl that took 20 police officers nearly an hour to quell. Four from Brockton ended up getting arrested, including one juvenile. Nearly 200 people, including children, were at the baby shower, which started at 9 p.m. A fight, which quickly escalated, broke out a little after 11:30 p.m. Stoughton Police responded, but needed assistance from three other local police departments as well as the State Police and Norfolk County Sheriff's Office to quell the brawl. Fire Officials are investigating the cause of a 2-alarm fire on Turnpike Street/Route 138 in Easton early Tuesday morning.
Authorities are investigating the cause of a 2-alarm fire early Tuesday morning that sent fire departments from multiple communities, including Stoughton, to Turnpike Street in Easton. The old Carriage House Restaurant on Route 138 went up in flames at approximately 3 a.m. Easton Firefighters were assisted by Stoughton, Norton, Raynham, West Bridgewater, Bridgewater and Sharon in putting out the blaze. No firefighers entered the interior of the building, Easton firefighter Lawrence Blye said, and no injuries occurred. Easton Fire Chief Kevin Partridge said that while he is unsure as to what could have caused the fire, an electrical fire can be ruled out. There was no power running through the building. A man was taken to the hospital with burns after a controlled fire in the backyard of a Stoughton home went awry Saturday afternoon. The Stoughton Fire Department responded to the scene of the brush fire at 81 Taxiera Road at 12:33 p.m. on April 14, Captain Jim Bertram of he SFD said. The street is located off School St., near its intersection with West St. The controlled fire was set in the yard of 81 Taxiera Road, but got out of hand, went into the woods, and spread to parts of four yards - the yard next door at 91 Taxiera Rd. and two yards on Zabrosky Ave., the street that runs behind Taxiera. The house, located at 49 Winfisky Dr. in Stoughton, is deemed a “total loss,” by Stoughton Fire Chief Dolloff. All residents and pets made it out of the home safely.
A fire at a home on Winfisky Dr. in Stoughton caused significant damage to the rear of the structure, but all five residents home at the time were able to make it out safely, as were the family’s four dogs. A crash near the intersection of Union Street and Washington Street in Easton (near the Stoughton/Easton line) sent three to the hospital Monday afternoon, including one with serious injuries. Stoughton Fire assisted in responding to the call.
A three-car motor vehicle accident just south of the intersection of Route 138 and Union Street in Easton near the Stoughton boarder sent three people to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton Monday afternoon. Easton Fire Chief Kevin Partridge said the accident was initially a head-on collision between a mini-van and a pick-up truck. A third vehicle then rear-ended the mini-van before colliding with the pick-up truck. Two of the operators were conscious and walking outside of the vehicle. A two-alarm fire ripped through Burger King at Easton's five corners Sunday night, causing significant damage to the building. Stoughton was one of four area fire departments to assist Easton during the call. There were no injuries reported, according to Easton Fire Chief Kevin Partridge. The cause of the fire, which started in the building's ceiling, is still unknown and under investigation, Partridge said. The assistant general manager of Burger King was in his office when he heard crackling coming from the ceiling. He quickly got himself and the other two employees out of the building, according to the chief. A kitchen fire caused first floor damage to a Bay Road home in Easton, but there were no injuries. Stoughton, Sharon and West Bridgewater assisted the Easton Fire Department.
A kitchen fire at a two-story home on Bay Road in Easton Saturday afternoon caused damage, but no injuries, Easton Fire Captain Tony Gomes said. The fire was contained to the first floor kitchen at 159 Bay Road. Crews responded at 12:27 p.m. Easton also received assistance from three surrounding communities, including Stoughton. Gomes said a fire in a wood stove caught some combustibles adjacent to it and spread. The damage was confined to the first floor, and mostly the kitchen. There was smoke and water damage. No injuries were reported, Gomes said. Easton Engines 2,4 and 5 and Easton Ladder 1 responded to the scene.
