Stoughton Police Make Several Drunk Driving Arrests in Past Week

Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction. *** Drunk Driving Arrests May 4 Bernadette Wyman, 53, of Berkley, MA, was charged with operating under the influence (OUI liquor) following a motor vehicle stop at 37 Dykeman Way in Stoughton at 1:09 a.m. on May 4. Wyman was also charged with operating a motor vehicle negligently to endanger; possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle; a lights violation; making an improper right turn; and a marked lanes violation.  May 2 Stoughton Police received a call at 2:39 a.m. on May 2 for a suspicious motor vehicle at McDonald's on Washington St. in Stoughton. Owl Rescued at Cedar Hill Golf Course in Stoughton Stoughton Police, with the help of some volunteers, rescued an owl stuck in netting at the Cedar Hill Golf Course on Park St. in Stoughton on March 30. Police received a call reporting the incident at 9:18 a.m., less than two hours before the start of the Stoughton Community Events Committee's Annual Easter Egg Hunt, which was set to take place at Cedar Hill. Man Arrested in Stoughton For Third Drunk Driving Offense

Drunk Driving An Avon man was arrested in the early morning hours of April 4 for allegedly driving drunk for a third time. Stoughton Police made a motor vehicle stop at 1:13 a.m. on April 4 at the intersection of Page St. and Maple St., and placed two men in custody. Paulo J. Barros, 38, of Teddy Dr. in Avon, was charged with OUI liquor (third offense); negligent operation of a motor vehicle; operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license; marked lanes violation; and the unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.  Meanwhile, a 38-year-old Brookline man was taken into protective custody.  *** Suspicious …

State Police Arrest Stoughton Woman for Drunk Driving

The arrest came during a State Police run sobriety checkpoint Friday on Neponset St. in Canton.

A Stoughton woman was arrested Friday in Canton for allegedly driving drunk, according to a press release from the Massachusetts State Police. The State Police conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Neponset Street in Canton April 5, resulting in the arrest of six people for OUI alcohol and drugs with two criminal summons, according to the release. State Police also issued 88 civil motor vehicle citations. Mia Cancel, 46, of Stoughton, was charged with OUI liquor. Those arrested during the sobriety checkpoint in Canton were expected to appear in Stoughton District Court on Monday, according to the release. State Police also conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Route 3A in Lowell on April 6, resulting in the arrest of 12 people for OUI.

Drunk Driver Leads Stoughton Police on High Speed Chase, Reportedly Assaults Officer

Sgt. John Bonney led a pursuit of an alleged drunk driver from Stoughton into Brockton early Sunday morning. The driver, a 29-year-old Randolph man, faces several charges in addition to OUI, including assaulting a police officer.

An alleged drunk driver led Stoughton Police on a high speed chase into Brockton early Sunday morning, according to Executive Officer Robert Devine.  Stoughton Police Sgt. John Bonney attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Jayson Zimmerman, 29, of Country Club Dr. in Randolph, on Park St. near Alger Way in Stoughton, but Zimmerman kept driving, with the pursuit eventually ending at 339 Arthur Paquin Way in Brockton, about four miles away, according to the Stoughton Police Log.  Zimmerman reached speeds of around 70 during the pursuit, which took place shortly after 1:40 a.m. on March 3, Devine said.
