STOUGHTON MOURNS ANNE HAVLIN: Stoughton lost one of its most dynamic citizens Monday night, November 5, with the death of Anne Havlin. Anne was the Director of the St. Anthony’s Free Market, a food pantry located inside the religious education department of Immaculate Conception Church. She had waged a three year battle against cancer, always wearing a smile, and the face of courage. Her husband Tom told me that, “It ended the way she wanted it. She was surrounded by her children.” Tom also shared how important that Christmas was to Anne. She had already wrapped all of this year’s gifts for her husband, her four daughters, and her five grandchildren. He told me that Hospice had told him last Friday that the time was short, and if they …

Stoughton Chamber of Commerce member IKEA donated shelving to Stoughton's St. Anthony's Food Pantry last Thursday, and spent the day installing the units at the pantry, located on Park Ave.
The Stoughton Chamber of Commerce and its member businesses are known for supporting the Stoughton Food Pantries through its fundraising efforts such as the annual Doin’ It For Diane fundraiser. So the Chamber’s coordinated work with one of its Gold Members, IKEA-Stoughton, at the St. Anthony’s Food Pantry on Thursday, September 6 should come as no surprise. In fact, this project was a direct result of the Doin’ It For Diane Fundraiser. Christine Gallagher, manager of the St. Anthony’s Food Pantry on Park Ave., explained that when the funds were allocated from Doin' it For Diane between the two pantries (Ilse Marks and St. Anthony’s), each respective pantry was asked to provide a wish list. Gallagher said her pantry “desperately needed …

About 100 people came to the Portuguese National Club Friday night, April 27 for the 7th annual “Doin’ It For Diane” fundraiser, a benefit for Stoughton's food pantries. The fundraiser is named in memory of Diane Murray, wife of longtime South School principal David Fisher. Shortly after Diane died in August 2005, the first "Doin' It For Diane" (DIFD) event was held, as a way to honor Diane and her favorite charity. This year, more than $20,000 was raised for Stoughton's food pantries - the Ilse Marks Pantry and St. Anthony's Free Market. This represented the most money raised in the seven year history of the event. Photos from the event are posted in the media gallery above. DOIN' IT FOR DIANE A HUGE SUCCESS! Details will be forthcoming, but it appears that the 7th Annual Doin' It for Diane food pantry fundraiser has topped all their previous events. The most recent one, held on Friday, April 27 at the Portuguese National Club, attracted a smaller crowd than some of the previous events (about 100 people), but sponsorships increased, and those attending opened their hearts and wallets to those less fortunate. More than $20,000 was generated for Stoughton's two food pantries! There was an amazing array of delicious desserts from Bob's Foodmart, Catering by Linda, Costco, Courtyard by Marriott, Dunkin' Donuts, IKEA, Ivy's Fine Cakes, Lee Policow, New England Sinai Hospital, Panera Bread, the Portuguese National …
