Cynthia Walsh remains Vice Chair of the Board.
Temporary chair since May 7, John Anzivino's peers on the Stoughton Board of Selectman voted Tuesday night to give him the permanent title. Steve Anastos nominated Anzivino. Both were elected to the board in 2008, and reelected in 2011. With no other nominations, Cynthia Walsh, Bob O'Regan and T.J. Recupero joined Anastos to vote for Anzivino, in what was a unanimous decision. "I thank the board for their support and I certainly hope to live up to their confidence over the next year," Anzivino said. Anzivino succeeds John Stagnone, who served as chairman for the previous two years. Cynthia Walsh announced at Tuesday's Stoughton Board of Selectmen meeting that her recent adornment of scarves is not a fashion statement but rather an attempt to cover an incision from a recent biopsy. "Those close to me know that I have been undergoing tests for the past several weeks and Monday, I got the final news. I have been diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma Disease," she said at the Sept. 26 meeting. Walsh continued, "I assure the public that I will continue to serve in all my capacities as long as I can...just like I have been for 36 years." The Selectmen discussed the importance of civics and participation in local government. Each also addressed the various concerns 8B students had for the town, including improving schools, recycling, litter, sidewalks, and playgrounds/recreational facilities, which the students had presented in their typed letters to Stoughton’s Board of Selectmen. Ms. Walsh and Attorney O’Regan were excellent speakers whose time was greatly appreciated. Take a look at the photo gallery for pictures of their respective visits.
