Stoughton Lions Club's 2012 Summer Concert Series Starts July 8

The first of six summer concerts sponsored by the Stoughton Lions Club features Political Asylum, an oldies band made up of well-known locals. The opening concert takes place Sunday, July 8 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Faxon Park.

The Stoughton Lions Club "Concerts in the Park" for the 2012 summer season begins this Sunday, July 8 at Faxon Veterans Memorial Park on Park Street, across the street from the Stoughton Public Library. Political Asylum, an oldies band comprised of well-known locals Marjorie Clapprood, Roy Cohen, Steve Fradkin, Steve Hillman, Steve Tapper and Stoughton Public Schools Superintendent Marguerite Rizzi, takes to the Faxon Park gazebo first, kicking things off on July 8. All concerts are Sundays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and are free of charge. Concerts are open to all Stoughton residents. Please bring your own chairs/blankets to sit on. There are no bathroom facilities. STOUGHTON LIONS CLUB ANNOUNCES 2012 SUMMER CONCERT SERIES LINEUP: I don't know about you, but nothing says summer more than the fabulous Sunday evening concerts at the Charles Large Gazebo at Faxon Veterans Memorial Park on Rt. 27, across from the Stoughton Public Library. The upcoming 2012 Stoughton Lions Club "Concerts in the Park" series begins on Sunday, July 8.  All concerts are from 5-7 p.m. and are FREE OF CHARGE. Concerts are open to all Stoughton residents. HAPPY 25th ANNIVERSARY: To  Lisa Areniello and her husband Zeppy on twenty five years of wedded bliss. Their kids threw them a party to celebrate the occassion. Lisa, a Stoughton native, is the owner of L.A. Express and Giovann Salon. SENIORS---FREE RIDES TO SUNDAY CONCERT!  The Stoughton Council on Aging is providing free transportation to the Concerts in the Park hosted by the Stoughton Lions Club.  Next concert is Sunday evening, August 14, from 5-7 p.m. featuring the Infractions, which may be the best band playing here all summer. FORE THE SENIIORS! Stoughton Friends for Seniors will hold its 13th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Monday, September 26 at Brookmeadow Country Club in Canton. Registration begins at 7 a.m., and shotgun start will come at 8 a.m. The entry fee is $125, and includes golf cart and dinner, which will be served at the conclusion of the tournament. There will be prizes for longest drive, closest to the pin, and best and worst team score. There is a $20,000 CASH PRIZE for a hole-in-one!  Reservations must be made by September 19, 2011. "Five Things you Need to Know This Weekend" is the weekend version of the Patch column "Five Things You Need to Know Today."  The weekend edition provides readers with essential information for both Saturday and Sunday. 1. Dance 2 Save Performing at SHS Dance 2 Save, a Massachusetts-based dance group, will be performing at the Stoughton High auditorium on Saturday, July 9, looking to raise money for a local charity, Cradles to Crayons. The show starts at 7 p.m. and features dancers of all ages from all over the state, some still in high school, others married with children.
