A Brooklyn man was arrested in Canton on Friday for allegedly accepting nearly 300 pounds of marijuana. Stoughton Police assisted in the arrest.
The Stoughton Police Department along with other state and local police agencies arrested a Brooklyn, New York man in Canton this past Friday for allegedly accepting a marijuana delivery valued at nearly $1 million, according to reports. Thomas Jin Kim, 30, of Brooklyn, was taken into custody after taking possession of nearly 300 pounds of pot, according to MyFoxBoston.com, and was subsequently charged with trafficking in marijuana. Canton police made the arrest shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 15, assisted by Detective Sergeant Robert Welch of the Stoughton Police, Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office, and members of the Drug Enforcement Agency, according to the Boston Globe and MyFoxBoston…

But, Stoughton Historical Society president Dwight MacKerron, says that once upon a time Canton was in Stoughton. “We used to be one town so we have a substantial shared past,” he told About Town. (Stoughton became a town in 1726 with Canton splitting from Stoughton and becoming its own town in 1797). Auricelli Braga pled guilty Wednesday in Norfolk Superior Court to charges stemming from a June 2012 car crash which killed a 64-year-old Stoughton woman, according to the Norfolk County DA's office. Braga is not a legal resident and faces deportation.
The unlicensed illegal immigrant drunk driver from Stoughton who crossed the center line of Rte. 138 in Canton on June 24, 2012, striking and killing Sara Escudero, a 64-year-old Stoughton woman, was sent to jail Wednesday, according to a press release from the office of Norfolk County District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey. Auricelli Braga, 32, from Stoughton, pled guilty in Norfolk Superior Court to both charges against her: Motor Vehicle Homicide by Negligent Operation while Operating Under the Influence and Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, according to the DA's office. “The judge imposed 2.5 years in the house of correction with two years incarcerated and the balance suspended during 5 years of supervised probation," Morrissey …

Shoplifting Leads to Arrest of Stoughton and Canton Residents On Saturday, Dec. 29 Norwood Police arrested 36-year-old Christin Quattrucci of Hayward Dr. in Stoughton and 49-year-old Ergin Abaz of Fairview Rd. in Canton. Norwood Police Dispatch received a call reporting that the two were observed shoplifting at the Norwood T.J. Maxx on Nahatan Street. It was reported to the responding officers Chris Flanagan and Jared Kullich that the suspects were removing security tags from the merchandise. On scene officers spoke with the two that were still inside the store.
