Hockomock League Football Recap: 8 Teams Win in Week 3; League Play Starts Week 4

A recap of Week 3 football action in the Hockomock League.

Through three weeks of the season, six teams are still undefeated - Stoughton, Oliver Ames and Sharon in the Davenport Division and King Philip, North Attleboro and Attleboro in the Kelly-Rex. In the Davenport, Oliver Ames has the highest scoring offense (100 points, through three weeks, including 86 in the last two) and Stoughton has the top defense (allowing just 20 points through three weeks, and just 7 in the last two). In the Kelly-Rex, Attleboro has the highest scoring offense (97 points in three games) and King Philip has the top defense (23 points allowed in three games). Hockomock League Football Recap: Nine Teams Still Unbeaten After Week 2

A recap of Week 2 football action in the Hockomock League.

Hockomock League football teams continued their strong play in week 2, with nine of the league's 11 teams picking up wins. Eight teams have started the season 2-0 and one is 1-0. Week 3 schedule: Week 2 game recaps are below: Davenport Small Schools Division Stoughton 22, Taunton 0 In the only week 2 matchup between Hockomock League schools, Stoughton pitched a shutout on defense forcing six turnovers at Taunton Friday afternoon en route to a 22-0 win. Stoughton, now 2-0, recovered three fumbles (Aaron Mack and Joey Wilder), recorded three interceptions (Andrew Valle, Tim Porter and Malachi Baugh) and scored all 22 points off Taunton turnovers, including 16 in the fourth quarter. Hockomock League Football Recap: Hock Teams Roll in Week 1

While the games don't count towards league standings, and have little impact on playoff eligibility, Hockomock League football teams got off to a hot start in week 1 of the high school football season, with all teams winning their respective openers with the exception of Taunton (Canton's game was suspended). Week 1 game recaps are below. Week 2 schedule - all games are Friday, September 14: Stoughton at Taunton; Oliver Ames at North Quincy; Attleboro at Dartmouth; Canton at Quincy; Foxboro at East Providence; Arlington Catholic at Franklin; King Philip at Medfield; North Attleboro at BC High; Sharon at Rockland; Needham at Mansfield. Highlights From The SHS Football Team's Thanksgiving Win Vs. Canton [VIDEO]

Check out the highlight montage (in the media gallery) from the Stoughton High football team’s 27-7 win at Canton on Thanksgiving morning. There is also a video of the trophy presentation and postgame victory celebration. Aaron Mack led the way with four rushing touchdowns and the Black Knight defense turned in one of its best efforts of the season. It was the seventh straight Thanksgiving Day win for Stoughton and the 15th win in the last 17 years over the Bulldogs. Stoughton holds a 43-39-4 edge in the 86-year rivalry with Canton. The Black Knights finish the season 6-5 and 3-1 in the Davenport Division, turning in their first winning season since 2006. *** Both videos are by Robert Burke of Burkco Sports Video.

For the seventh straight Thanksgiving, the Stoughton High football team beat Canton, this time 27-7 in Canton. Aaron Mack led the way with four rushing touchdowns and the Black Knight defense turned in one of its best efforts of the season. Senior defenders came up big in the win. Brandon Alves had three sacks and numerous tackles behind the line of scrimmage; Asad Elmi blocked a punt deep in Canton territory midway through the third quarter, setting up Mack’s third score; and Alex Kimball sacked Canton quarterback Anthony Bires on 4th and 16 for a 10-yard loss, giving the Black Knights the ball at the Canton six, setting up Mack’s final score. It’s become a Thanksgiving tradition as of late: Stoughton beats Canton. Since 1995, the Black Knights have won 15 of the last 17 Thanksgiving games against the Bulldogs. “There’s only one way to end the season, and that’s to beat Canton,” Senior captain Kevin Richard said to loud cheers at the annual Pep Rally on Wednesday. “We’re keeping that [Thanksgiving] trophy here,” senior captain Andrew Paredes said during his Pep Rally speech. “This is its home and its not going to leave.” And, after the Stoughton High football team’s 27-7 win at Canton on Thanksgiving morning this year, that trophy isn’t going anywhere—it’s staying at Stoughton High. Thanksgiving Final: Stoughton 27, Canton 7

The Black Knights football team traveled to Canton and beat the Bulldogs for the seventh consecutive year on Thanksgiving.

Stoughton junior Aaron Mack had four touchdowns and the Black Knight defense turned in one of its best efforts of the season as the Stoughton High football team beat Canton 27-7 on the road Thanksgiving morning. The win marked Stoughton’s seventh straight Thanksgiving victory over Canton and the 15th in the last 17 years. During this current seven-year win streak, which dates back to 2005, Stoughton has outscored Canton 229-35. Unfortunately for Stoughton, Sharon fell to Oliver Ames 34-8 in Sharon. Stoughton needed a Sharon victory and a win over Canton to clinch the Davenport Division and earn a postseason berth. Instead, OA is the Davenport champ and advances to play Pembroke in the Division 3 playoffs. Still, the Black Knights finish …
