The 14th Annual Stoughton Adult Basic Education Achievement Ceremony was recently held at Stoughton High School where over 80 students celebrated their progress in learning English.

Joyce that will require licensure for behavior analysts and assistant behavior analysts. The new license requirement will increase the likelihood that the patients behavior analysts typically serve, mainly children living with disabilities, will receive qualified and effective treatment. “Behavior analysts play an important role fostering and encouraging the development of children with autism and others disabilities,” said Joyce. “By implementing licensure, we can be assured that our children will receive qualified care and that behavior analysts will be able to market themselves more effectively as…

The FDA will conduct a hearing with Judge Rotenberg Center representatives in regards to the use of Graduated Electronic Decelerators, which are used to administer electric shocks to disabled children.

Joyce (D-Milton) has requested the FDA ban of painful skin shock devices as part of a testimony submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, according to press release from his office Wednesday. Joyce, who represents Stoughton, has been an outspoken critic of the use of the controversial shock-therapy treatments at the JRC. He requested the ban of all Graduated Electronic Decelerators (GED) specifically for use at the Judge Rotenberg Center (JRC), which is headquartered in Canton at 240 Turnpike St., near the Stoughton line. LEARNING THE LANGUAGE! The Stoughton Public Library's Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts program was saluted last Wednesday night (November 7) with a potluck dinner and recognition night, held in the Library's Wales French Room. Despite snow, rain and howling winds, the room was full of tutors, students. and leaders of the community. The Literacy Program, which gets some of its budget from taxpayers, and other from grants, was instituted at the Stoughton Public Library in 1998. The Sharon Literacy program, which is connected with Stoughton's, started in 2005. There are currently 110 active students and 66 active tutors in the program. Since 2005, 24 students have become American citizens, including five last Wednesday night. Ten of the …

DEMOCRATS HOLD AWARDS DINNER: The Stoughton Democratic Town Committee handed out a number of awards on Oct. 18, at a dinner at Chinatown Restaurant. John Kavin, who co-chaired the event with Donna Smith, was the evening's host. Roberto Soto was vice chair of the event. State Rep. Lou Kakfa (D-Stoughton) was there to help present the awards. About 40 people gathered in the restaurant's function room for delicious food, and conversation of how to bring about Democratic victory in November. Obama and Warren shirts were the fashion statement. The most prestigious award of the night, The John Joseph Moakley Lifetime Achievement Award went to Steven Fradkin, owner of Wizard of Ads in Canton, and a big cog in the Democratic machine in the State. …
