The Boston Globe Magazine identifies Stoughton as a community on the "upswing," with one of "the biggest single-family home price increases in Greater Boston from 2011 to 2012."
The Boston Globe Magazine identifies Stoughton as a community on the "upswing." Stoughton was one of 13 Eastern Massachusetts communities the Boston Globe spotlighted in its 2013 "Top Places to Live" feature. Citing the importance of home buyers wanting to "feel confident that they’re making a good investment" when purchasing a home, the Globe identified 13 communities "all on the upswing, with the biggest single-family home price increases in Greater Boston from 2011 to 2012." Lauded for its prime location - easy access to highways like Route 24 and Interstate 95 - and for its recreation spots - Ames Pond - Stoughton finds itself on this list because of its rising home values. Stoughton's median single-family home price in 2012 was $…

Shaw's and Star Market agreed to sell several stores to Cerberus Capital Management as part of $3.3 billion deal, according to a report in the Boston Globe Thursday. UPDATE ON THURSDAY'S SCHOOL ARTICLE: We got some comments from readers wondering if information supplied for Thursday's column regarding the Stoughton Public Schools rankings in Boston Magazine was accurate. Stoughton DID move up from 104 last year to #80 this year. And, according to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Marguerite Rizzi, the list is based on the 350 public school districts in the state. But some questioned why the Boston Magazine rankings only listed 135 schools. "These are the top 135 schools, they don't bother to rate beyond that," Dr. Rizzi wrote in an email to Patch. Stoughton finished #80. For comparison, Sharon is #10, Canton is #43, Easton is #67, Braintree is #74, and Randolph is # 111. Only Braintree and Easton spent …
