A new NBC News/WSJ poll shows President Obama at 48 percent and Mitt Romney at 47 percent. That suggests there are still a bunch of undecided voters. DEMOCRATS HOLD AWARDS DINNER: The Stoughton Democratic Town Committee handed out a number of awards on Oct. 18, at a dinner at Chinatown Restaurant. John Kavin, who co-chaired the event with Donna Smith, was the evening's host. Roberto Soto was vice chair of the event. State Rep. Lou Kakfa (D-Stoughton) was there to help present the awards. About 40 people gathered in the restaurant's function room for delicious food, and conversation of how to bring about Democratic victory in November. Obama and Warren shirts were the fashion statement. The most prestigious award of the night, The John Joseph Moakley Lifetime Achievement Award went to Steven Fradkin, owner of Wizard of Ads in Canton, and a big cog in the Democratic machine in the State. …

Vice President candidates Joe Biden and Paul Ryan squared off in the VP debate on Thursday, Oct. 11, a week after presidential candidates Barack Obama and Mitt Romney had their first debate. Here's how Massachusetts Republicans and Democrats reacted.

Massachusetts Democrats were more enthusiastic about Joe Biden's vice presidential debate performance than Bay State Republicans were about Paul Ryan's performance: that's the major finding of the Red and Blue Commonwealth flash polls sent out to local politicos immediately after the debate ended on Thursday night.  Biden and Ryan faced off on Thursday, Oct. 11 at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, with ABC News' Martha Raddatz moderating the debate that covered both domestic and foreign policy. Of the 14 local influential Democrats who took the survey, 12 of them (85.7 percent) voted that Biden won by a large margin, with one voting that the current vice president won by a slim margin and one voting "neutral." While reactions have been mixed as to who won Wednesday's presidential debate between President Barack Obama and Republican Candidate Mitt Romney, Red and Blue Commonwealth flash polls sent to Massachusetts Republicans and Democrats immediately after the debate revealed that many thought Romney came out on top.
