Stoughton High Boys' Track Wins Division Title; SHS Girls' Fall to Canton

With Tuesday's win over Canton, the Stoughton High boys' outdoor track team clinched sole possession of the Hockomock League's Davenport Division. On the girls' side, Stoughton came up short against the Bulldogs.

The Stoughton boys' track team clinched the Hockomock League Davenport Division title and completed an undefeated dual meet season (5-0) with its win over Canton, 108-28, on Tuesday.  "After finishing last year's spring season in a tie with Oliver Ames for the Davenport and tying with both OA and Sharon in the winter track season, this season's finish was especially sweet," Stoughton coach Harvey Blonder said.  "A lot of the team has been together for four years and are impact athletes in other sports as well.  I am looking forward to taking on the Kelley-Rex division in the Hockomock Championship meet on May 19." The Stoughton Youth Lacrosse program, in its inaugural season, recently hosted its first-ever slate of home games. The Stoughton girls played Franklin at the Hansen Elementary School field on May 5. Stoughton High Baseball Walks Off Again; Knights Beat Foxborough in Dramatic Fashion

Trailing 3-0, Stoughton cut the deficit to 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, and then scored two more times in the bottom of the seventh to win 4-3, giving the Black Knights their second walk-off victory in as many games.

For the second game in a row the Stoughton High baseball team (8-6) won on a walk-off hit, this time defeating Foxborough (3-11) 4-3 on a rainy Wednesday afternoon in Stoughton. After senior captain Pat Jackman had the game-winning hit Monday against Sharon, he had the game-tying hit against Foxborough on Wednesday, and then came around to score the game-winning run against the Warriors. Stoughton High Junior Hunter Goodrich a Star in the Pool

Time Dropped: The success, hard work, achievements and talents of Stoughton High swimmer Hunter Goodrich.

As Stoughton's Aquaman, Hunter Goodrich is undeniably one of the most dedicated, talented and passionate athletes at Stoughton High.  The junior captain of the Stoughton High swim team has, on top of breaking a vast amount of records, won MVP for his team his first three high seasons and is a Hockomock All-Star for the past two years. Goodrich is, by nature, amphibious. Goodrich started swimming competitively at the age of 9 at the Canton Dolphins Recreational Team and "have swam there ever since." Goodrich said his father drew him to the sport. Aside from swimming for Stoughton and The Canton Dolphins Recreational teams, Goodrich swims for Hay Lightning, a swimming team based in North Attleboro out of the YMCA.  Goodrich has competed in …

Jackman's Walk-Off Gives Stoughton High Baseball Big Win over Sharon

The Stoughton High baseball team beat Sharon 2-1 Monday at home. Pat Jackman had a walk-off double to end the game. Take a look at photos from the game and a video interview with Jackman, Mike Gallagher and Mike Romaine in the media gallery.

The Stoughton High baseball team (7-6) walked off with a win against the Sharon Eagles (8-6) by a score of 2-1 Monday afternoon, on a game-ending RBI double by senior captain Pat Jackman in the bottom of the seventh inning. The win snaps a two-game losing streak and moves Stoughton three wins short of a tournament berth with seven games left to play this season. Both Stoughton and Sharon received strong performances from their pitchers. Stoughton's Will McGrath and Mike Gallagher split the game, with McGrath pitching the first four innings, and Gallagher relieving him for the last three.  Sharon sent senior Jake Fishman to the mound, who suffered his second heartbreaking loss pitching against Stoughton this season. Stoughton was led by senior captain Meghan Flaherty who had 3 hits and 4 RBI.

The Stoughton High softball team did all their scoring in the first and second innings Monday afternoon on their way to a road win over Sharon. The Black Knights put up three runs in the first inning and three runs in the second in the 6-1 win. Senior captain Meghan Flaherty lead the way for Stoughton going 3-4 with a single, double, triple and 4 RBI. Emma Zuk also chipped in with a two run double in the first inning. “We did all our scoring at the beginning," Stoughton head coach Janet Sullivan said. “Give them credit because [the Sharon] pitcher, she’s come in off their bench because they lost their starting pitcher, she did a great job. Gallery: Stoughton High Boys' Track Tops OA; Girls Fall to Tigers

In another dominating performance, the Stoughton boys' outdoor track team remains unbeaten, defeating Oliver Ames 91-45 on Tuesday. Andrew Valle, Malachi Baugh and Samir Sofi all won multiple events. Stoughton throwers (shot put, discus, javelin) picked up 26 out of a possible 27 points.  On the girls' side, Stoughton lost to OA, 112-24. Top performers included Megan Crimmins, Amy Kelly and Ariene Ohimor.  The team takes on Canton Tuesday, May 7. Recaps of the OA meet are below. Gallery: Stoughton High Baseball Falls to Mansfield in Late Innings

After Stoughton tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Mansfield responded with three runs in the top of the sixth inning, beating Stoughton 4-1. Take a look at photos from the game in the media gallery.

With the Stoughton High baseball team trailing 1-0 in the top of the fifth inning against visiting Mansfield Wednesday afternoon, freshman Jake Gibb belted a triple deep to centerfield to lead off the bottom of the fifth.  One batter later, Pat Raeke was retired on a squeeze play, but the sacrifice brought bring Gibb home from third to tie the score 1-1. But, Mansfield countered with three runs in the top of the sixth to take a 4-1 lead, ultimately winning the game by that same score.  With the loss, Stoughton falls to 6-5 on the season, while Mansfield improves to 5-6. Stoughton High Softball Has Optimistic Second Half Outlook

The Stoughton High Softball team reached the midpoint of its 18-game regular season Monday.

After keeping it close with visiting King Philip through the first four innings of Monday afternoon's game, always-tough KP opened things up in the fifth inning, and came away with a 16-1 win. Jordan Angelos had a single, was hit by a pitch, scored Stoughton's lone run, and also played a strong game defensively. Catcher Payton Pizzano had a strong game throwing out three KP baserunners attempting to steal and tagging out a runner at the plate.  Monday's game against KP marked the midpoint of the 18-game regular season for the Stoughton High softball team. Stoughton sits at 3-6 through nine games, with nine games to go in the regular season. The team will need a strong second half to reach the .500 mark (or finish second in the Hockomock …
