The O’Donnell Middle School Wednesday Jazz Band and 6th Grade Jazz Band were honored for their performances at the recent MAJE Middle School Jazz Festival, a regional competition held at Stoughton High.
The following is from the Stoughton Public Schools Music Department: The Stoughton Public Schools Music Department hosted the 2013 MAJE Middle School Jazz Festival on Thursday, May 9 at Stoughton High School. This festival was sponsored by the Massachusetts Association for Jazz Education. Middle school bands from Stoughton, Mattapoisett, Easton, Hull, East Bridgewater, Norwood, Rochester, Medfield, Needham and Foxborough attended this year's festival. The OMS 6th Grade Jazz Band directed by Ann Dorgan received a Silver Medal for their strong performance. The O'Donnell Middle School released its third term honor roll for grades 6-8.
The O'Donnell Middle School released its third term Honor Roll May 17 for grades 6-8. In order to make the Honor Roll at the O’Donnell Middle School, students must have A’s and B’s in all subjects and have good conduct, according to the OMS handbook. "High Honors" is for students with all A's and "Honors" is for students with A's and B's, principal Matt Colantonio said. Take a look at the Term 3 Honor Roll below. The following is from the Stoughton High School Fine Arts Department: The Stoughton High School Fine Arts Department will present its 2013 Spring Fling Art Show and Concert on Friday, May 17 at Stoughton High. The Art Gallery will be open at 6:30 p.m. The concert portion will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. The concert will feature the SHS Choirs under the direction of Griffin Coombs and the SHS Bands directed by John Mange. The SHS Drum Club will be directed by Andrew Davey. Tickets will be available at the door only. Adults $5, seniors and children $3, with a family maximum of $10. Eleven music students - eight from the O'Donnell Middle School and three from Stoughton High School - recently participated in the 2013 Southeastern Massachusetts School Bandmasters Association Honors Festival.

The festival was held at Rockland School on Saturday, May 4. Stoughton High School Freshman Connor Nye performed with the Honors Orchestra. Trumpeter Hannah Peterson and trombonist Adam Potter, also freshmen at SHS, performed with the Honors Concert Band. The Stoughton High Drama Department will be performing "The Wiz," a re-creation of the classic tale of the "Wizard of Oz," for its spring musical this year. Shows are Friday through Sunday, May 10, 11 and 12 at the SHS auditorium.
The Stoughton High drama department will be hosting its annual spring musical May 10-12 in the Stoughton High School auditorium. This year's production is called "The Wiz," which is a re-creation of the classic tale of the "Wizard of Oz," but with some fun twists. Show times are at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 10; 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 11; and 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 12. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students. This prolific cast and a fantastic crew have been working countless hours to get this production ready. Three Stoughton High students won first place in their respective categories in the General Federation of Women's Clubs of Massachusetts 2013 Photography Contest for High School students. Jacob Casey, a freshman, won first place in the "Scenes" category. Payton Pizzano, a sophomore, won first place in the "living things category." And, Marissa Ramos, also a sophomore, won first place in the "Still Life" category. The entries were sponsored by the Stoughton Woman's Club, and judged at a statewide competition in Sudbury. Now in its 13th year, Party All Night Long is the post graduation lock-in party hosted for Stoughton High's newest alumni. Tickets are on sale and volunteers are needed. PANL takes place Thursday, June 6 at the O'Donnell Middle School.

Now in its 13th year, PANL is the after graduation lock-in party hosted for SHS’s newest alums. The O’Donnell Middle School is transformed into a mystery theme and the seniors are given a once in a lifetime party to remember! Joyce Husseini and Carol Brown each won a three-year term on the Stoughton School Committee. T.J. Recupero was the lone candidate for a three-year seat on the Stoughton Board of Selectmen.
In the only contested race this election cycle for the annual Stoughton Town Election, Joyce Husseini and Dr. Carol Brown each won three-year terms on the Stoughton School Committee. There were four candidates vying for two seats on the committee in the April 30 Town Election. Husseini, the incumbent, came in first with 1,783 votes, and Brown came in second with 1,377 votes. Brown edged Patricia MacNeil, who came in third with 1,317 votes. Debra Cote came in fourth with 1,191 votes. Overall, 3,750 voters cast a ballot in the town election, or 20.9 percent of the 17,964 total registered voters in town. Husseini's seat represented one of the two seats up this election. She was first reelected to the school committee in the 2010 Town …
