TOWN MEETING NIGHT ONE: ZONES & DRONES: Stoughton's Annual Town Meeting got underway on Monday, May 20 at Stoughton High School's Auditorium. Scheduled for a 7:30 start, proceedings instead started at 7:48 p.m. The 122 Town Meeting members present (out of 155), took up the first of 80 articles before them, approving several enterprise funds and tackling some of the budget, including adding a couple of new positions. But, the reoccurring talk of the night had to do with privacy rights. Town Meeting members unanimously passed five Enterprise Fund Budgets: Ambulance ($1,307,907), Cedar Hill Golf Course ($223,683), Public Health Association ($935,277), Sewer Department ($6,262,694) and Water Department ($5,055,713). A Stoughton man faces multiple charges, including attempted murder and kidnapping, after he repeatedly physically abused his girlfriend, and held her captive in her Bridgewater home for the past month. The woman, 50, sought medical attention this past Friday at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, having sustained facial, rib and back fractures, as well as bruising "all over her body," according to a report filed by Bridgewater Police. Her boyfriend, Mark Crean, 49, of McCormick Terrace in Stoughton, was arrested in Wareham on Friday, and is charged with attempted murder; kidnapping; aggravated domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; two counts of domestic assault and battery; drug to confine; and witness …
The O’Donnell Middle School Wednesday Jazz Band and 6th Grade Jazz Band were honored for their performances at the recent MAJE Middle School Jazz Festival, a regional competition held at Stoughton High.
The following is from the Stoughton Public Schools Music Department: The Stoughton Public Schools Music Department hosted the 2013 MAJE Middle School Jazz Festival on Thursday, May 9 at Stoughton High School. This festival was sponsored by the Massachusetts Association for Jazz Education. Middle school bands from Stoughton, Mattapoisett, Easton, Hull, East Bridgewater, Norwood, Rochester, Medfield, Needham and Foxborough attended this year's festival. The OMS 6th Grade Jazz Band directed by Ann Dorgan received a Silver Medal for their strong performance. Three 6th grade students were recognized for their individual performances and received Outstanding Musicianship certificates. Students who received certificates included Hanna Holden on …
Brendan Malley, 18, a 2012 graduate of Stoughton High, just finished his freshman year at Bridgewater State. He ran a successful write-in campaign to be a Stoughton Town Meeting representative. Town Meeting starts May 20.
Brendan Malley is getting an early start at becoming involved in the political process. Malley, 18, is a rising sophomore at Bridgewater State. He is currently a political science and economics double major and recently became Stoughton’s youngest Town Meeting representative, ready to serve with a room full of people, many old enough to be his parent or grandparent. A 2012 graduate of Stoughton High, Malley ran a successful write-in campaign, receiving 25 votes to be elected for a 3-year term. No other write-in candidate got more votes across all eight precincts. There was a large shortage of Town Meeting reps this year. Sixty-two Town Meeting seats needed to be filled in this year’s election on April 30, but only 24 people were on the …

It's that time of year again - Town Meeting season in Stoughton. The 2013 Annual Town Meeting begins Monday, May 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Stoughton High School Auditorium. The O'Donnell Middle School released its third term honor roll for grades 6-8.
The O'Donnell Middle School released its third term Honor Roll May 17 for grades 6-8. In order to make the Honor Roll at the O’Donnell Middle School, students must have A’s and B’s in all subjects and have good conduct, according to the OMS handbook. "High Honors" is for students with all A's and "Honors" is for students with A's and B's, principal Matt Colantonio said. Take a look at the Term 3 Honor Roll below.
