STOYAC Travel Basketball: 6th Grade Girls Soar

The 6th grade girls' team improves to 8-2, while the 6th grade boys' team and 8th grade girls' team are both 7-3.

In a battle for first place in Division 1 of the Metro West Travel Basketball League, Stoughton’s STOYAC beat the 6th graders from Milton, 47-37, last Sunday at the O’Donnell Middle School gym.

Stoughton and Milton now both sit atop the standings of the 10-team division at 8-2, but Stoughton holds the tie-breaker.

With the win, Stoughton was able to avenge a 47-45 loss in the to this same Milton team.

The website Select Hoops ranks the Stoughton 6th grade girls #2 in its top 25 power rankings for Eastern Massachusetts 6th grade girls’ basketball teams, right ahead of #3 Milton.

Meanwhile, the Stoughton are ranked #6 in the Select Hoops top 25 power rankings for Eastern Massachusetts 6th grade boys’ basketball teams.

The Stoughton 6th grade boys’ team is 7-3 following last Sunday’s 60-56 win over Needham. The 6th grade boys are third in their division, behind a pair of 9-1 teams (Southboro and Brockton).

The Stoughton 8th grade girls’ team (7-3) is ranked #20 in the 8th grade power rankings.

The following STOYAC travel teams won games last Sunday:

  • 5th grade girls (3-7), 42-34 over Norwood
  • 6th grade boys (7-3), 60-56 over Needham
  • 6th grade girls (8-2), 47-37 over Milton
  • 7th grade boys (5-5), 46-40 over Foxboro
  • 8th grade girls (7-3), 55-51 over Franklin

The following STOYAC travel teams are home this week at the . Games are played Sunday, February 26. Admission is free.

  • 8:30 a.m. – 4th grade boys vs. Newton
  • 9:50 a.m. – 6th grade boys vs. Foxboro
  • 11:10 a.m. – 4th grade boys vs. Mansfield
  • 12:30 p.m. – 5th grade girls vs. Westwood
  • 1:50 p.m. – 7th grade girls vs. Easton
