Stoughton's 10 National Baseball Team Wins Hockomock Summer League Championship

The Stoughton 10-year-old National Hockomock Summer League baseball team beat Mansfield in the finals last Thursday evening, capturing the league title.

With an 8-5 victory over top-seeded Mansfield last Thursday evening in the finals, Stoughton won the Hockomock Summer League Baseball championship in the 10 National division.

Stoughton went 9-4 in the regular season, beating Attleboro in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs and Easton in the semifinals, before topping Mansfield for the championship.

Overall, the team posted a record of 17-4, including a 5-0 showing at the Stoughton Invitational 10B Tournament in July, to capture that trophy as well.

Over the course of what was a 21 game season, Stoughton outscored its opponents 211 to 117, a margin of 4.5 runs per game.

Stoughton players include: Colby Andrews, Stephen Bangs, Brady Conlin, Gianni D’Andrea, Tyler Hobbs, Cameron Kast, James Murphy, Matthew O’Halloran, David Penney, Clayton Rahaman, Tommy Sanda, Matthew Snyder, and Sean Worsley.

For the bulk of Stoughton's roster, last Thursday's win was a second straight Hockomock Summer League baseball title. Nine of Stoughton's 13 players (Bangs, Conlin, Kast, Murphy, O'Halloran, Rahaman, Sanda, Snyder, Worsley) were on last summer's 9 National championship team.

This year's team, sponsored by Franklin Sports in Stoughton, was coached by manager Chris O'Halloran and assistants John Bangs and Jim Murphy.  O'Halloran, Bangs and Murphy also guided last year's 9 National championship squad.
