Stoughton's Whalen Helps AAU Basketball Team to National Championship

A trio of girls from Stoughton competed in national basketball tournaments with their AAU squads.

Three girls from Stoughton traveled with their AAU basketball program, the Boston Showstoppers, to take part in a pair of national tournaments over the July 4th week.

Asiah Dingle and Valerie Whalen joined their sixth grade Boston Showstopper squad in Tennessee to compete with 52 team from across the nation.

The team placed ninth in the tourney. They went 6-2 only losing to the runner-up (Indiana) and the eventual champion (Virginia).

Meanwhile, Bridgette Whalen and her eighth grade Boston Showstoppers team went to Orlando, FL to play against 76 teams from across the country.

Bridgette's team went 7-1 to win the Division 2 National Championship. They beat a team from Florida 57-41 to take home the trophy.
