Stoughton's Pike Pitches Brockton Rox to Victory in Debut with Team

Steve Pike tossed five innings of shutout baseball, earning the win in his debut with the Brockton Rox at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton Thursday evening.

Stoughton's own Steve Pike pitched the Brockton Rox to victory Thursday night at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton in the back end of the team's doubleheader against the Old Orchard Beach (Maine) Raging Tide, tossing five strong innings in his Rox debut.

Pike, 18, is graduate of Catholic Memorial and recently concluded his freshman year at Stonehill College, where he plays varsity baseball with the Skyhawks. Pike also used to play for the Stoughton American Legion Baseball team.

After beating the Raging Tide in the first game, 5-2, Brockton swept the doubleheader with a 2-1 win, behind Pike's five innings of shutout ball.

Pike, a lefty, allowed only two hits, walked three and struck out three, picking up the win.

Pike was signed by the Rox on July 31, according to the team's website. He improves to 1-0 on the season.

Once a part of the independent Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball league, the Brockton Rox switched leagues before the 2012 season and now feature a roster of college standouts, playing in the nine-team Futures Collegiate Baseball League.
