Stoughton Runners Take Part in 2011 Boston Half Marathon

Five men and four women from Stoughton ran in the 11th Annual Boston Half Marathon, held Sunday, Oct. 9. Leanne Pacheco was the top runner from Stoughton.

Nine Stoughton residents, ranging in age from 22 to 52, took part in Sunday’s 11th Annual Boston Half Marathon.

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) reported that a “record field size” of more than 5,200 runners made the 13.1-mile trek from Franklin Park to Boston.

The Stoughton field included five males (Shane Dupont, James McSweeney, William Kelly, Gregory Johnson and Adam Chale) and four females (Leanne Pacheco, Judy Callahan, Kamilia Kaczor and Shirley Sarco).

Leanne Pacheco, 29, was the top Stoughton runner, finishing in 1:41:49. She ran a pace of 7:47 per mile, finishing 615th overall.

Shane Dupont, 37, was the top male runner from Stoughton, finishing in 1:49:14 (a pace of 8:21 per mile).

According to the B.A.A. website, Ali Abdosh from Ethiopia won the men’s race (1:03:36), while Janet Cherobon-Bawcom from Rome, Georgia won the women’s race (1:11:58).

The Half Marathon was presented by the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.
