Stoughton Patch Scoreboard: Second in a Row for Field Hockey Team

The following are the updated results for the Stoughton High athletic teams.

The Black Knight girls soccer team delivered a strong second half performance, but they came up short, losing, 3-1, at Sharon. Shelby Sprague scored the lone goal for Stoughton on a penalty kick.

Field Hockey

The varsity field hockey team beat Sharon, 3-0. Anna Russell, Beth Sloane and Courtney Campbell scored the goal. Katie Cellucci picked up her first shutout in goal.  The JV field hockey team defeated Sharon, 2-0. Jenny Nye and Rose Thivinen scored the goals. Kara Ploss and Monika McKinnon split the shutout in goal. The freshmen field hockey team beat Sharon, 1-0, on a goal by Mia Russell. Meghan McSweeney had the shutout in goal.

Girls' Cross-Country 

Stoughton's Amy Kelly (first, 21.27) led the cross country team to their second victory, a 25-31 decision over the Houghton's Pond 5K course Tuesday. She was followed by Julia Bobeck (fourth 23.09), Rebekah Medina (fifth 23.18), Shannon Barkey (seventh 23.49) Katrina Daly (eighth 24.13) Jennifer Billo (10th 25.29) Elizabeth Noe (19th 34.51) and Chantel Furtado (22nd 40.35) It was Furtado's first time running a race with the team.

Boys' Cross-Country
One second was the difference in the meet as Stoughton boys nipped Foxborough, 27-28, at Houghton's Pond, Tuesday. While David Lockhart (second - 18:08),  Antonio Irons (fourth- 19:12) and Alec DeNapoli (fifth- 19:15)  were the top boys over the 5K course. It was fourth man Jason Marshall's (20:19) finishing kick that made the difference. Nick Quattrucci (20:21), Luke Butera (21:06)  and Colin Cochran (21:50)  rounded out the top seven with Cameron Bean (21:51) just a second back. Other Stoughton runners were Sean Ellertson (22:12), Raj Patel (22:24), Jonathan Lessa (22:53), Jonathan Oliveira (23:37),Ryan Dolinsky (26:01) and Steven Bontemps (26:05).
