Stoughton Patch Scoreboard: Hoop Teams Fall to Mansfield

The Stoughton High varsity girls basketball team fell to 4-4 on the season with a 53-34 loss at Mansfield. Junior guard Amy Kelly led the team with 10 points and seven steals while senior center Kayla Motley scored eight points and pulled down 10 rebounds.

The varsity boys basketball team lost to Mansfield, 75-64, on Tuesday. Brandon Teixeira led the Black Knights with 16 points and Dennis Rebelo chipped in with 14 points.

The Stoughton High School swim team lost their meet against North Attleboro on Tuesday night, boys' 78-51, and girls' 84-70. Logan McCormick swam a great 200 I.M. just out touching the North swimmer with a time of 2:42.19. The following swimmers achieved personal bests--Ari Riske 100 fly, Ariel Eloi 100 free, Ally Swartz 500 free, Katie Eckler 500 free, Jon Kerman 500 free, and Alex Cusack 100 back.

Dec. 13: Attleboro 60, Stoughton 49: Sophomore Brandon Teixeira had 14 points for the Black Knights.
Dec. 18: Sharon 64, Stoughton 51, Joey Wilder led the Black Knights with 14 points and 19 rebounds.
Dec. 20: Milford 60, Stoughton 49, Stanley Sajous led the Black Knights with 10 points and Michael Manning chipped in with 9 points.
Dec. 28: Randolph Blue Devil Classic: Stoughton 56, Natick 48. Stanley Sajous and Dennis Rebelo led the Black Knights with 15 points each and Mike Gallagher added 11 points. 
Monday, Dec. 30: Randolph Blue Devil Classic, Randolph 51, Stoughton 45. Joey Wilder and Mike Gallagher were named to the all-tournament for the Black Knights.
Jan. 7: Stoughton 49, Foxborough 43. Dennis Rebelo had 10 points and Mike Gallagher had nine points for the Black Knights.
Jan. 8: Franklin 58, Stoughton 35. Dennis Rebelo was the top scorer for the Black Knights with 10 points.
Jan. 10: Stoughton 61, Canton 49: Senior Stanley Sajous scored 19 points for the Black Knights, while Mike Manning and Dennis Rebelo each had 12.

Dec. 13:at Attleboro 62, Stoughton 45: Junior guard LeiAndra Busby scored 22 points to lead the Stoughton offense while Amy Kelly and Jess Greer played well defensively.
Dec. 18: Sharon 44, Stoughton 32
Dec. 20: Stoughton 62, Milford 36. Offensively the team was lead by LeiAndra Busby with 15 points,  Kayla Motley with 12 points and 10 rebounds and Alicia Quinones with 11 points.  
Dec. 23: Stoughton 45, Hingham 37, Junior guard LeiAndra Busby led all scorers with 16 points and senior captain Ashley Mederios added 12.
Jan. 4: Franklin 52, Stoughton 36, The Black Knights fell to 2-3 on the season. Sophomore guard Jessica Greer led the offense with 15 points, hitting 5 3-pointers, while LeiAndra Busby, Ashley Merdeiros, and Kayla Motley combined for 16 points.  Emily Cramer and Amy Kelly played well defensively.
Jan. 7: Stoughton 50, Foxborough 43 OT. The Stoughton girls varsity basketball team improved to 3-3 on the season.  Jessica Greer led all scorers with 16 points, Ashley Medeiros had nine points and 14 rebounds while Kayla Motley had nine points and 10 rebounds. 
Jan. 10: Stoughton 40, Canton 32. Junior guard LeiAndra Busby and senior forward Ashley Mederios led the team with a combined 25 points.

Dec. 14: Milford 7, Stoughton 0. The Black Knights' Girro Brancaccio and Jon Lessa had strong games in their first varsity games. Paul Sheehan played well in goal, making 33 saves.
Dec. 16: North Attleboro 2, Stoughton 0. The varsity hockey team lost a hard fought game to North Attleboro. Paul Sheehan was outstanding in goal. Girro Brancaccio, John Catrone, Drew DiStefano, Eoin Doherty and Cam Doherty had good games on defense.
Dec. 20: at Bourne Tournament: Bourne 5, Stoughton 0. Paul Sheehan and Ethan Rawl played well in goal. Eoin Doherty and Drew DiStefano played well on defense.
Dec. 21: at Bourne Tournament: Holliston 7, Stoughton 1. Mark Sheehan scored the Stoughton goal with Ben Litwack and Brandon Lima getting the assists.
Dec. 23: Stoughton 2, Foxborough 0. Mark Sheehan and Jon Lessa had the goals, while Paul Sheehan earned the shutout in net, making 33 saves. 
Jan. 4: at Attleboro 4, Stoughton 0. The Black Knights' Paul Sheehan was outstanding in goal, making 42 saves.
Jan. 6: Stoughton 4, Apponequet 1. Brandon Lima scored 2 goals, Ben  Litwack and Ryan McSweeney scored single goals.  Shawn Sellew played well on defense.
Jan. 8: Franklin 9, Stoughton 0. Paul Sheehan and Ethan Rawl combined to make 70 saves for the Black Knights.

INDOOR TRACK
Dec. 13: Girls' Track: Sharon 61, Stoughton 34. High scorer for the Black Knights was Maya Barrant with seven points. Marissa Williams won the 600, Rachel Berkowsky won the 1000 and Ada Monyeki won the shot put. Three freshmen ran the 300 with Angela Connolly finishing second. The others were Elizabeth Slade and Olivia Schlehuber. 
Boys' Track: Sharon 48, Stoughton 47:
The Knights made a strong surge late in the meet to take the lead and just missed victory in the final event. Leading the way was Samir Sofi, who was victorious in the high jump, long jump and 55 meter dash. Also having a strong meet was senior captain Kevin McDonald, who won the 55 meter hurdles, took second in the high jump and third in the long jump. Also picking up individual victories were Jason Marshall in the 600 meters and Kevin Lucas in the shot put. Jordan Taylor had a strong meet, as well, placing second in the 55 and 300 meter dashes. Each athlete also exceeded the state qualifying mark in their events.
Jan. 7: Boys 70, Foxborough 25: Leading the way was senior Samir Sofi, who captured the high jump and long jump with a season best 20 feet, 6 1/2 inches. Kevin McDonald led a sweep in the hurdles and was second in the long jump and high jump. Lennox Green took the 55 meter dash in a season best 6.90 seconds, was second in the 300, and took third in the long jump. Also picking up individual victories were Jason Marshall in the 600, Kevin Lucas in the shot put, David Lockhart in the Mile, and Antonio Irions in the two-mile.
Foxborough 63, girls' 32.Maya Barrant was the high scorer with 11 points- Ada Monyeki won the shot put- Lisa Bontemps-Kelly Barros-Ashley Chipman-Katrina Daly-Samantha Roppoli-and Nashadee Guerrier all scored their first points for the team.
Jan. 10: Boys 71, Canton 20; Canton 48.5, Girls 46.4  Maya Barrant scored 13 points and qualified for states in the 55 meter dash-Shelby Sprague won the 300. Ada Monyeki won the shot put, while Jennifer Billo won the two-mile.
Jan. 12: Indoor Track State Relays:Boys' finished third.
Jan. 13: Boys':Stoughton, 61, Milford 33:Leading the way was Lennox Green, who won the 55 meter in 6.96 seconds and the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 8 inches. Samir Sofi was second in the 55 meter and long jump and won the high jump with a best of 6 feet, 2 inches. Also winning their events were Jason Marshall in the 300 meters, David Lockhart in the 1000 meters, Kevin Lucas in the shot put, and Alex Oliver in the 55 meter hurdles. 
Girls: Milford 59, Stoughton 36: Coach Greg Burke's shot putters carried the team with a sweep gaining nine points, also all three set new personal records. Ada Monyeki ,Nashardee Guerrier and Michelle Connolly were the throwers. Rachel Berkowsky won the 1000 and Julia Bobeck won the two-mile with a new personal record. Maya Barrant won the long jump.

SWIMMING:

Dec. 20: Stoughton 92, Cardinal Spellman, 78. The Black Knight relay team of Zach Monahan, Hunter Goodrich, Nick Khuu, and Logan McCormick took first in the 200 Medley Relay. Jon Kerman won both the 200 and 500 freestyle. Goodrich won the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, while Monahan won the 100 freestyle. McCormick, Kerman, Goodrich and Monahan teamed up to win the 400 freestyle relay. Katie Eckler won the 100 butterfly and joined Ari Riske, Meagan Dixon, and Kathleen Walsh for the 400 freestyle relay that placed second. Other solid performers were Kathleen Walsh, Alex Cusack, and Ari Riske.
