Stoughton Patch Scoreboard: Football Team Wins, Slips to No. 3

The 4-1 Stoughton High football team defeated Canton Friday afternoon, 40-13, and actually dropped in the MIAA power rating from second to third place.

Stoughton is still in pretty good shape for the playoffs, being in second place in the Hockomock League's Davenport Division with two games to go, against Sharon and Foxborough.

Oliver Ames is the No. 1 team at 5-0 with a 15.60 ratings, followed by 3-2 Hopkinton at 12.40, while North Attleboro is in the fourth spots at 10.20 and Walpole rounds out the top five at 10.20.

The Black Knights will be hosting 1-4 Sharon, Friday at 3:45 p.m. in the homecoming game. A year ago, the Eagles edged out the Black Knights for the Davenport League title and then went on to win the Super Bowl.

Stoughton will end the first part of their season at 3-2 Foxborough, Oct. 25 in a 7 p.m. game. 

If the Black Knights make the playoffs, it will start the first week in November. If not, they will have games scheduled for them, leading up to the Thanksgiving Day game against Canton.

In today's action, the field hockey team will be hosting Foxborough, while girls' soccer team is at home against the Warriors and the boys' soccer team is traveling to Foxborough. The golf team will be at the Norton Country Club to face Mansfield and the cross-country teams will be hosting Randolph at Houghton's Pond at 3:30 p.m.
