Stoughton Patch College Notebook: Ruffin Powers Drexel Basketball

Dartaye Ruffin is starting a forward for the Drexel University men's basketball team. He has started six games for the 4-2 Dragons, averaging 3.8 points and 7.7 rebounds. Drexel's two losses were to highly ranked teams, losing at No. 22 UCLA and No. 7. Arizona at Madison Square Garden. The Dragons defeated Alabama, 85-83, in three overtimes at Madison Square Garden.Drexel will be hosting Cleveland State Dec. 4.

Freshman Marcus Middleton of Stoughton is seeing action off the bench at guard for the WPI men's basketball team. The Engineers are off to a 4-1 record.

After transferring for the University of New Hampshire, Chrystal Holland is a 5-9 sophomore forward for the American International College women's basketball team. She is seeing action as a reserve.

Stoughton's Victoria Hanson, who played at Lawrence Academy, has appearance in three game with 2.31 goals against average for the 11-3-1 Boston University's women's ice hockey team.

Christine Delorio, who played at Cardinal Spellman, is a junior guard for the Curry College women's basketball team. The Colonels are off to a 2-2 start after losing to Framingham State, 78-49. Delorio has started all four games, averaging nine points per game.

Val Driscoll, an Archbishop Williams graduate, is a 6-4 senior center-forward for the University of Michigan women's basketball team. She missed last year with a knee injury. She got the first start of her career Nov. 4 against Arizona, scoring four points, grabbing seven rebounds, three assists and two steals for the Wolverines. Michigan is off to a 5-3 split and recently split their games in the Barclays Invitational in Brookyln, beating Texas Tech, 82-71, and losing to No. 15 LSU, 64-62.

Stoughton's Adena Joseph, a junior at Regis College, was named to the New England Collegiate Conference's women's soccer second team. She score 16 points in 16 games this year, including seven goals. She had the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Thomas on Oct. 1.

Kristopher Joyce is a freshman on the Roxbury Community College's men's basketball team. The 6-1 guard scored 20 points in the first six games.

Stoughton's McKenna Russell is a freshman forward for the Southern Maine University women's ice hockey team. In the first seven games, the former Fontbonne Academy standout has two assists.
