Stoughton Middle School Hockey Program Sharpening Skates for Another Season on the Ice

Tryouts for Stoughton's Middle School Hockey Team will be 3:30 to 4:50 p.m. August 20 and 27 at the Asiaf Rink at Brockton High School.

Tryouts are open to all Stoughton middle school students entering the 6th, 7th or 8th grade in September. No positions are guaranteed to returning players. There is no charge for tryouts.

This year the team will be playing in the Foxboro Sports Center, Middle School Hockey League. They will be playing in a B2 Division. All Divisions in Middle School are no check (no check does not mean no contact, however).

The league will start the weekend of September 7. Most of the season the team will have Friday night games, however there will be occasional games on Sunday nights in Raynham or Walpole. The season is 22 games and at least 3 playoff games, and it usually runs through the beginning of April.

The practice schedule is Mondays at Brockton High School from 3:30 to 4:50 p.m. through the end of November. During the high school season the practice schedule may change slightly as the team will have to coordinate with the high school teams that also use the facility and practice will end at 4:20 p.m.

Practice will also run through April.

Stoughton's Middle School Hockey team is supported by Friends of Stoughton Hockey (FOSH). FOSH does fundraising throughout the year that helps keep the cost of hockey affordable.

All players are required to participate in fundraising and all parents are urged to become involved with FOSH. It is an organization run by volunteer parents, and without parent participation there would be no Middle School Hockey Program.

The cost for the season is $675. Three equal payments of $225 are due September 1st, October 1st and November 1st.
