Stoughton High Wrestlers Shine at Hockomock League Championship

Seven Stoughton wrestlers placed at this season's Hockomock League Chamipmship meet, while the team came in 5th overall.

The Stoughton High wrestling team finished fifth out of 12 teams at the 2012-2013 Hockomock League Wrestling Championships held this past Sunday at Franklin High School, with seven individual wrestlers placing in the top six of their respective weight classes.

Rob Mone (152) and Bryan Nguyen (heavyweight) advanced to the finals of their weight classes, with each coming in second.

  • 3rd - Stefanos Kampouris (170) and Joey Girolamo (182)
  • 4th - Brett Layton (106) and Brandon Layton (120)
  • 6th - Devlin Carroll (113)

Stoughton had finished in last place at the Hockomock League championships in each of the previous three seasons, according to results posted on the MassWrestling website, but proved to be one of the more competitive teams in the league this season and as a result had a much-improved showing at the Hockomock Campionship.

Stoughton has its last regular season meet at home against Canton Wednesday night, which will be senior night for the Black Knights.
