Stoughton High Track Teams Beat Bulldogs; Boys' Clinch Share of Davenport Title

The Stoughton High boys' and girls' track teams recorded victories over Canton Wednesday at home.

Both easily defeated Canton Wednesday afternoon at SHS, with the boys’ beating the Bulldogs 97-39, winning 11 of 14 events and one relay, and with the girls’ defeating Canton 92-43.

With the win, the Stoughton boys’ (5-1-1) clinch at least a share of the Hockomock League’s Davenport Division Title.

Meanwhile, the Stoughton girls improve to 5-2.

On the boys’ side, the jumpers led the way, taking 26 out of a possible 27 points, coach Harvey Blonder said.

Double winners were Steffan Jackson (63.3 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles; 16.3 seconds in 110-meter high hurdles) and Aaron Mack (11.4 seconds in the 100-meter; 40'1" in the triple jump).

Other winners were Wayne Barnaby (mile, 4:43); Nick Green (2 mile, 10:16); Brandon Alves (shot put, 41'2); Aaron Calixte (javelin, 139'1"); Bobby Blindt (discus, 115'11”); Malachi Baugh (long jump, 18'5") and Samir Sofi (high jump, 5'8”).

Adding second place finishes were Jason Marshall (400-meter hurdles, 67.7 seconds); Jack D'Addieco (400-meters, 56.1 seconds); Andrew Valle (110-meter high hurdles, 17.4 seconds); Paul Comeau (2 mile, 11:27) and Marcus Middleton (triple jump, 38').

Also scoring were John Eppenstein (400-meter hurdles, 68.2 seconds); Kevin McDonald (110-meter high hurdles, 17.4 seconds); Matt Mack (200-meter, 24.7 seconds); Kevin Lucas (shot put, 37'1”); and Alex Green (discus, 107'2”).

4 x 100 relay team members were Aaron and Matt Mack, Middleton and Lennox Green.

On the girls’ side, Julia Quattrucci won the 400-meter hurdles, the javelin, was on the winning 4x400-meter relay team, and finished third in the discus, coach Bob Clarke said.

Her sister, Emily Quattrucci, set a big personal record to finish second in the javelin (86'5").

Mackenzie Hudson finished second in the 400-meter hurdles and third in the triple jump.

Ifeoma Okeke finished second in the dash and the 200-meter event. Alicia Macomber came in third in the dash and finished first in the 100-meter hurdles.

Leesa Snyder was third in the 100-meter hurdles and second in the triple jump. Kelly Barros finished second in the 400-meter event and Shannon Hickey came in third.

Jade Paul won the 800-meter and the high jump, with a personal best of 4'10".

Shannon Barkey finished third in the 800-meter event. Deirdre Simms won the mile and Kerry O'Neil won the 2 mile.

Ariene Ohimor won the discus and the shot put. Chrystal Holland came in second in the shot with Rebecca Zimble coming in third.

Dieyniella Vieira came in second in the discus and Angela Vieira came in third in the javelin. Jenna Morris set a personal best in the high jump (4'6") to finish second.

The 4x400 relay team of Julia Quattrucci, Amy Kelly, Kelly Barros and Rachel Berkowsky came in first.

Both Stoughton teams host Milford next Wednesday, May 9.
