Emily Cramer, a sophomore, continued her solid pitching for the Black Knights. Cramer only allowed two earned runs and six hits with just two walks and got three strikeouts, but couldn’t get run support.

Cramer was able to get out of a bases loaded jam in the first inning, but gave up an unearned run in the second. After giving up a lead off single, followed by an error and a stolen base, Cramer was touched up by an RBI single from Haley Medeiros. Cramer got out of any further trouble and then settled down getting Franklin out 1-2-3 in both the third and fourth innings.

In the fifth inning, Franklin (2-1 overall record, 1-1 in the Hockomock League and 0-1 in the Kelley Rex large schools division) got another unearned run on a double, a fielders’ choice and a passed ball. The Panthers completed the scoring with a pair of runs in the sixth inning, on back-to-back doubles and a bunt single.

Stoughton junior left fielder Jordan Angelos had two hits and junior shortstop Megan Flaherty and Cramer each had a hit.

The Black Knights threatened in the third inning with a runner on second base and in the sixth with a runner reaching third base, but they couldn’t push any runs across the plate.

Stoughton also got good at bats also from senior co-captain Nicole Barton, and the freshman duo of catcher Payton Pizzano and second baseman Samantha Mattie continue to impress.

“We’re getting good pitching and hitting through our first four games, but we know we can and have to keep getting better to compete in this [Hockomock] League and we will,” Sullivan said.

Stoughton is back in action with a Hockomock League Davenport Division game on Thursday hosting Oliver Ames at 3:30 p.m.
