Stoughton High Outdoor Track Teams Both off to Fast Starts

The Stoughton High boys' and girls' teams both beat Foxboro Tuesday at home.

After both recording wins in a tri-meet against Randolph and Coyle and Cassidy on March 29, the Stoughton High boys’ and girls’ outdoor track teams continued the strong start to their respective seasons by beating Foxboro Tuesday afternoon at home.

On the boys’ side, Nick Green and Brandon Alves , with Green winning the mile (4:49) and the 800-meter (2:06) events and with Alves winning the shot put (44’9”) and discus (118’1”), helping Stoughton to an 89-47 win over the Warriors.

Steffan Jackson participated in his first meet since coming off an ankle injury, coach Harvey Blonder said, with the senior captain winning the 110-meter hurdles event (15.4 seconds).

Other individual winners included: Wayne Barnaby in the 2 mile (11:01); Malachi Baugh in the long jump (18'4”); Matthew Mack in the triple jump (37'9”); Samir Sofi in the high jump (5'6”); Andrew Valle in the javelin (126'1”); and the 4 x 100-meter relay team of Sofi, Marcus Middleton, Mack and Valle (47.4).

Jason Marshall (66.9 seconds, 400-meter hurdles); Jack D'Addieco (57.6 seconds, 400 meters); Lennox Green (17'8.5”, long jump); Middleton (37'3”, triple jump); Aaron Calixte (5'4”, high jump); Kevin Lucas (38'9”, shot put); Alex Green (101'7”, discus) and Baugh (11.4 seconds, 100-meters and 24.3 seconds, 200-meters) added second place finishes.

Kevin McDonald (68.5 seconds, 400-meter hurdles); Middleton (11.5 seconds, 100-meters); Alec DeNapoli (5:23.8 mile); Matthew Mack (24.7 seconds, 200-meter); Valle (36'9”, triple jump); Joey Wilder (36'8”, shot put); and Ben Cromwell (87'7”, discus) finished third in their events.

“The team scored in every event except the 4 x 400 relay where they were still very competitive,” Blonder said.

On the girls’ side, the Lady Knights earned a 70-66 victory over Foxboro.

Jade Paul won the 400-meter event and the high jump; Julia Quattrucci won the javelin event; Kelly Collins won the 100-meter hurdles event; Ariene Ohimor won the discuss; Chrystal Holland won the discus; and the 4 x 100-meter relay team of Kadijah Dansby, Leesa Snyder, Collins and Mackenzie Hudson also came in first.

“The girls are well on their way to having a great season,” coach Bob Clarke said.
