Stoughton High Hockey Shutout in Hockomock Crossover

The Black Knights lost a 3-0 contest to North Attleboro Saturday evening in the third-place game of the Hockomock League Classic.

Despite another solid effort in goal by PJ Sheehan, the Stoughton High hockey team fell 3-0 to North Attleboro Saturday evening at the Foxboro Sports Center.

Saturday’s contest was the third-place game in the Hockomock League Crossover, which matches up teams from the Davenport (small schools) and Kelley-Rex (large schools) divisions that finished in the same spot in the standings.

With the loss, Stoughton falls to 1-16-1. North Attleboro improves to 12-6-2.

The Red Rocketeers scored a goal in each period, en route to victory, their third over Stoughton this season.

NA’s Jordan Picini scored in the opening period. Marshall Blackman scored the other two goals, one in the second period and the other in the third.

Will Porter earned the shutout in net for North Attleboro, stopping all nine shots he faced.

Sheehan was far busier for Stoughton, facing 40 shots on the evening. The sophomore goaltender was up to the task, coming up with 37 saves.

The Hockomock Crossover wraps up league play for Stoughton this season. The Black Knights end the regular season with two games in the Bourne Tournament over February vacation.

Stoughton faces Dennis-Yarmouth on Wednesday at the Gallo Arena in Bourne, before playing either Dartmouth or Westfield at the same arena on Thursday.
