Stoughton High Hockey Falls to North Attleboro

North Attleboro scored five third period goals in Saturday's 8-0 win against Stoughton.

Heading into the final period of Saturday night’s game against North Attleboro at the Asiaf Arena, the trailed 3-0, but less than four minutes into the third period, the were able to double that lead.

North Attleboro’s Matt McAuliffe scored twice in a 16 second period, and Tim Joyce followed with another goal less than two minutes later, giving NA a 6-0 lead with 11:18 to play. NA added two more goals near the end of the game to hand Stoughton an 8-0 loss.

Stoughton falls to 1-8, shutout for the third straight game and for the fifth time this season.

Stoughton head coach Dan Mark said a bright spot was the goaltending of PJ Sheehan and Ethan Rawl. Sheehan made 30 saves and has 123 saves in the last three games. Rawl saved all seven shots he faced against NA.

The Red Rocketeers scored one goal in the first period and added two more in the second, before the five-goal outburst in the final 15 minutes.

Stoughton hosts Mansfield Monday at 3 p.m. at the Asiaf in Brockton, the last of four consecutive games played at the Asiaf for the Black Knights.
