Stoughton High Gives Pep to School Rally

As part of their annual tradition, Stoughton High held its annual pep rally the day before their annual Thanksgiving Day game against Canton.
The event featured the Stoughton High band, cheerleaders, color guard, Power Puff male cheerleaders and the football players.
Head football coach Greg Burke thanked the fans for their support during their historic season, which included going to the Division 3 state semifinals, losing to Plymouth South, 14-12, after beating rival Oliver Ames for the Division 3 Southwest title. Burke also introduced all of his seniors, who will be playing in their last games of their career Thursday morning at Canton High.
Athletic director Ryan Donahue, who served as the master of ceremonies for the rally, said the team will be getting a banner on the wall.
Dr. Marguerite Rizzi, the superintendent of schools, said she has made a wager with her Canton counterpart, Jeff Granatinio, on Thursday's game. The "losing" superintendent has to wear the other team's jersey at their next school committee meeting. She joked she already has the jersey picked out for Granatino.
Juliette Miller, the Stoughton High principal, read a poem about the high school students, which was patterned after the "Night Before Christmas."
At the end of the rally, the boys' cheerleaders for the Canton-Stoughton Powder Puff game, brought down the house with their routine, which was taught to them by the Stoughton cheerleaders.
The only downer of the day was the cancellation of the much anticipated Canton-Stoughton girls' Powder Puff football game, because of the weather. The girls were still treated to pizza after the rally.
