North Attleboro (2-3) got on the board first midway through the first half on a free kick from just outside the box, but Stoughton soon followed with a half-volley goal off a corner kick by freshman Shelby Sprague for her second goal of the season.

After a scramble in front, Shelby with her back to the net, scissored the ball over her head and past the goaltender.

The goal provided Stoughton with renewed energy, but that was short-lived as North Attleboro quickly answered back with two goals of their own, capitalizing on some defensive lapses, to make it 3-1 at the half.

In the second half, neither North Attleboro, who dominated play in the second period, nor Stoughton, with the few opportunities of their own, could find the net.

Seniors Alicia Macomber and Mikayla Williams tried to get the team back in the conteset but were double and triple-teamed most of the game. Sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Berkowsky again kept the score close with some nice defensive plays.

The Black Knights look to rebound at home on Monday, September 26 against non-league opponent Fontbonne Academy (1-4).  A Friday home game against Sharon has been postponed due to the inclement weather.
