Stoughton High Girls’ Indoor Track Team Competes in Weekend Meet

Jade Paul qualifies for the state meet in two events, while Rachel Berkowsky ran "the best race of her career," according to Coach Bob Clarke.

In the “last chance to qualify for states meet” held at the Reggie Lewis track on Sunday, Jade Paul qualified for states in two events, the long jump (15'1") and the 300-meter (42.50 seconds).

Paul’s time in the 300 was the second best time in the meet, coach Bob Clarke said.

Kelly Barros just missed the qualifying time in the 300, but set a new personal best (46.55 seconds).

And, Rachel Berkowsky ran what Clarke called a “heartbreaker” in the 1000-meter event. She set a personal record (3:23.77), but Berkowsky needed a time of 3:23.24 to qualify.

Still, Clarke was pleased with the efforts of Berkowsky, a sophomore.

“This young lady ran the best race of her career,” he said, “and is my athlete of the meet.”
