Stoughton High Girls’ Indoor Track Falls to OA to Start Season

Oliver Ames defeated Stoughton Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center.

The girls’ indoor track team kicked off its season Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center, losing to Davenport Division rival Oliver Ames, 71-24.

Despite the one-sided score, several Black Knights turned in solid performances in the first meet of the .

Alicia Macomber won two events for Stoughton—the 55-meter hurdles and 55-meter dash—scoring 10 of the 24 points for the team.

In her first competition at the high jump, Imani David cleared 4'6" and finished second in the event.

Deirdre Simms finished second in the mile run; Kerry O'Neil finished second in the 2-mile run; Nobrina Seng came in second in the shot put; Rachel Berkowsky came in third in the 1000-meter race; Leesa Snyder came in third in the hurdles; and Mackenzie Hudson finished third in the long jump.

Coach Bob Clarke said his captains this season are Seng, Simms, Jade Paul and Julia Quattrucci.

Paul (concussion) and Quattrucci (ankle injury) have been slowed by injuries in the early going, but are expected to be two of the team’s top performers this season. Clarke said both are “recovering nicely.”
