Stoughton High Girls' Basketball Draws Plymouth South in First Round of State Tournament

The MIAA released its postseason state tournament brackets for boys' and girls' high school basketball on Friday. The Stoughton High girls' are tournament bound, competing in the Division 1 South Sectional Bracket.

The Stoughton High girls’ basketball team will play Plymouth South in the first round of the state tournament.

Stoughton is the #10 seed in the Division 1 South Sectional Bracket.

The Black Knights finished the season at 13-7 and will travel to #7 seed Plymouth South (14-6) Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. in a first round game.

The winner of the Stoughton/Plymouth South game will play either #2 Braintree, #15 West Roxbury or #18 Quincy in the quarterfinals on March 1.

Hockomock League foes North Attleboro (#3), Franklin (#4), Attleboro (#14) and Taunton (#16) are also in the Division 1 South bracket, which includes 19 teams overall.

Stoughton is 7-5 away from SHS this season, while Plymouth South is 7-2 at home. Like Stoughton, Plymouth South lost back-to-back games before winning in the season finale. 

Both teams made the tournament last season; Stoughton lost in the first round at Newton North and Plymouth South lost in the preliminary round against Dartmouth.
