Stoughton High Field Hockey Picks up Wins Against Taunton, Sharon

The Stoughton High Field Hockey Team is now 2-2-1 after posting back-to-back wins against Hockomock League foes.

After starting the season 0-2-1, the has evened its record after earning wins against Hockomock League foes Taunton and Sharon to close out the week.

The two victories already match last season's win total.

On Wednesday, the Black Knights traveled to Taunton, earning a 2-1 win. Anna Russell scored her first varsity goal, assisted by Kerry Backman. And, Nicole Kerman scored her third goal of the season, assisted by Beth Sloane.

Stoughton then turned in a shutout victory, 1-0, over Sharon, Friday at home. After scoring her first varsity goal on Wednesday, Russell was back at it against the Eagles, scoring the lone goal of the contest. She was assisted by Emma Sinkus.

Katie Cellucci had the shutout in goal.

The junior varsity team also picked up wins against Taunton and Sharon.

The JV squad defeated Taunton 1-0 on a goal by Courtney Campbell, and, beat Sharon 3-0 with Samantha Doherty, Courtney Campbell and Ashlyn Crean scoring the goals. Kara Ploss played well in goal, earning the back-to-back shutouts.

Both the varsity and JV teams are back in action Thursday against Foxboro at home.
