“The meet was the first on Stoughton's newly resurfaced track. Despite the chilly temperatures most boys performed well for an early season meet,” coach Harvey Blonder wrote in an email.

“We have high hopes to duplicate last year's spring success and be more competitive in the league championship meet. We have some strength in all events and good depth in the jumps and sprints,” Blonder added. “Sixty-three boys are currently on the roster with a good mix of veteran upperclassmen and talented freshmen and sophomores.”

Captains this season are Alves, Mark Phan, Nick Green and Steffan Jackson.

Jackson is still recovering from an injury and missed the first meet.

“It would be a great boost to get Steffan back as he is among the state's best in the hurdles and high jump. It is a tribute to the rest of the team that they were able to win convincingly despite his absence,” Blonder said.

Aaron Mack, who also missed the first meet, looks to contribute going forward.

Stoughton is next in action when the Black Knights host Foxboro April 3 at 3:30 p.m.
