Stoughton High Boys' Indoor Track Wraps Up Season with Strong Performances at Championship Meets

Several members of the Stoughton High boys' indoor track team turned in impressive performances at the Division 2 Indoor Track Championship Meet and at the Hockomock League Indoor Track Championship Meet.

The Stoughton High boys' indoor track team wrapped up its season competing this past Sunday at the Division 2 Championship Meet and then coming back Tuesday night to compete in the rescheduled Hockomock Championship Meet. Both events were held at the Reggie Lewis Center.

The team faced significant challenges for the end of the season - The blizzard of 2013 severely impacted everyone's training and the earlier cancellation of the league meet played havoc with most athlete's mental focus.

At the D2 meet Malachi Baugh was the top placer, finishing 10th overall in the 55-meter dash (6.87 seconds).

The boys 4 x 400-meter relay team of Jason Marshall, David Lockhart, Wayne Barnaby and Jack D'Addieco set a season best of 3:40.54.  The 4 x 200 relay team of Smeet Patel, Sheldon Oliveira, Pat Jackman and Baugh also set a season best of 1:38.43.

Individual qualifiers who competed were Lockhart (mile, 4:39), Jackman - (55-meter dash, 7.07 seconds), D'Addieco (600-meters, 1:28.47) and Kevin McDonald (long jump - 18'2").

On late notice the Hockomock Indoor Championship was rescheduled for Tuesday. Many boys medaled and set personal bests.

Top placers were Pat Jackman (2nd place in the 55-meter dash, 6.90 seconds) and Wayne Barnaby (2nd place in the 2 mile, 10:16). David Lockhart took the lead at the third lap of the 1000-meter and gamely hung on for 3rd place place in 2:41.

The boys' 4 x 400-meter relay of Marshall, Lockhart, Oliveira and D'Addieco combined for a second place finish.

Marshall got 5th in the high jump (5'4") and McDonald recorded a personal best in the long jump, finishing 5th (19'4"). Harley David finished 6th in the 55-meter high hurdles (8.74 seconds).

Just outside the medals were 7th place finishers John Eppenstein (55-meter high hurdles, 8.65 seconds) and D'Addieco (shot put, 40' 11.25", a personal best).

Alec DeNapoli, Evan Schulze  and John Paul Noe, Mike Romaine, Shawn Connolly, Kevin Lucas, Sean Perry and Smeet Patel rounded out the team.

The final event of the season will feature Barnaby, D'Addieco and Marshall in the pentathlon this coming Tuesday.
