Stoughton High Basketball Teams Learn First Round State Tournament Foes

The postseason road starts with a game against Duxbury, while the will face Newton North in the first round of the state tournament.

The MIAA released its postseason state tournament brackets on Friday.

The finished the regular season 16-4, earning the #4 seed in the Division 2 South Sectional Bracket.

The Black Knights will host the Duxbury Dragons (11-9), the #13 seed, Tuesday, February 28 at 7 p.m. in a first round game.

The winner of this game will play March 1 against the winner of the game between #5 Medfield vs. #12 Norwood.

The Dragons are 5-6 on the road, but ended the season winning six of their final seven games overall, including beating Oliver Ames, 68-55, in their regular season finale.

Meanwhile, the is the #9 seed in the Division 1 South Sectional Bracket.

The Black Knights finished the season at 13-6 and will travel to the #8 seed Newton North Tigers (14-6) Wednesday, February 29 at 7 p.m. in a first round game.

The winner of this game will play March 2 against either top-seeded Franklin, #16 Weymouth or #17 Taunton.

Newton North is 7-4 at home this season. The Tigers have won four straight.

• The # 4 seeded Boys play here at Stoughton High vs. # 13 Duxbury this Tuesday night (2/28) – 7 p.m. Tip-Off.  Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. & ticket sales will begin at 6 p.m.  If you know anyone that is really looking forward to seeing this game, they should try to get here as close to 5:30 as they can.
