Keane scored twice in the first half for Westwood (with junior Bryn MacGillivray assisting both scores). Senior Julia Tucke and sophomore Jamison O’Neill added the other first half goals for the Wolverines.

“It’s just so hard to make up that many goals,” Mark said of facing the 4-0 deficit.

Stoughton came out with improved play in the second half, but Westwood was still able to add two more goals.

Keane scored to complete the hat trick, and less than nine minutes later, sophomore Caroline McLaughlin added Westwood’s final goal, giving the Wolverines a 6-1 lead with 13 minutes left.

Mark said he was impressed with Schlehuber’s performance. She finished with a goal and an assist.

Stoughton senior Christina Bacon came up with eight saves in goal.

Mark said the team had a “great practice” on Monday leading up to Tuesday’s game. “I thought for sure we’d have a good game,” he said.

But, the coach is still optimistic that his team, searching for their first win, can improve.

“We feel like we have a bunch of games [remaining] we can compete in,” he said. “I still feel confident we can turn it around.
