Several Athletes Shine as Stoughton High Track Splits Meet with Foxborough

The Stoughton High boys' continue a dominant start to the season, winning 14 of 16 events, improving to 3-0 overall. The SHS girls' meanwhile were edged 74-62.

The Stoughton High track teams took on Foxborough on the road April 23, with the SHS boys winning, improving to 3-0 on the season, and the SHS girls being edged. 

This Saturday, April 27 is the MSTCA Relays. On April 30, Stoughton hosts rival Oliver Ames.

The following is from Stoughton boys' coach Harvey Blonder:

Stoughton defeated Foxboro 99-37, to remain unbeaten to start the season at 3-0. The boys turned in a great effort, winning 14 of 16 events.

Double winners were Malachi Baugh in the 100-meters (11.1 seconds) and 200-meters (23.0 seconds); Jason Marshall in the 400-meter hurdles (61.6 seconds) and 400-meters (52.9 seconds); Andrew Valle in the javelin (138'4") and triple jump (40'8") and Samir Sofi in the long jump (20'5") and high jump (5'8").

Individual winners were David Lockhart in the mile (4:45), Harley David in the 110-meter High Hurdles (16.5 seconds), Wayne Barnaby in the 2 mile (10:33) and Joey Wilder in the shot put (47'4").

Both boys relays also won in season best times. The 4 x 100 relay of Aaron Mack, Marcus Middleton, Matt Mack and Valle ran 45.3 seconds. The 4  x 400 relay of Alfred Parker, Samir Sofi, David Lockhart and Jack D'Addieco ran 3:41.6

Other point scorers were John Paul Noe (800-meters - 2:17), Shawn Connolly (shot put 44'), Kevin Lucas (shot put 43'7"), and Tim Porter (discus 89'5")

New state qualifiers were Marshall and D'Addieco (400-meters); David (110-meter High Hurdles); Aaron Mack (100-meters); Wilder, Connolly and Lucas (shot put); and Valle (triple jump).

GIRLS' RECAP

The following is from Stoughton girls' coach Robert Clarke: 

The Stoughton girls' track team were defeated by Foxboro 74-62. 

Highlights for Stoughton: Ariene Ohimor won the shotput and the discus; Amy Kelly won the 400-meters and was second in the 400-meter hurdles; Kerry O'Neil won the 2 mile; freshman Samantha Roppoli won the javelin; and Kadijah Dansby won the long jump.

Katie Daly ran the 1 mile and the 2 mile and finished second in the 2 mile and 3rd in the mile; Rachel Berkowsky came in second in the 800-mters; Maya Barrant came in second in the dash; and Emily Quattrucci came in second in the javelin.

Freshman Marissa Williams finished 3rd in the javelin and freshman Sarah Quattrucci finished 3rd in the 400-meter hurdles and 3rd in the triple jump. 

The 4x100-meter relay team of Kadijah Dansby, Imani David, Maya Barrant and Megan Crimmins qualified for states with a winning time of 53.3 seconds.
