Ruffin, Driscoll Play Key Roles For College Hoop Teams

Two Stoughton natives are playing big roles on their college basketball teams.

Dartaye Ruffin, a 6'8,'' 250-pound senior forward, had a double-double performance against the University of Buffalo with 15 points and 14 rebounds for Drexel University against Cleveland State, an 85-83 overtime win and had 12 rebounds against Buffalo in a 55-52 loss.

Drexel lost, 66-49, at Southern Mississippi Friday night. The Dragons will be playing at William & Mary, Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 7 p.m.

Stoughton's Val Driscoll had six rebounds as the University of Michigan women's basketball team defeated Ohio State, 64-49, Sunday, in the Wolverines' first Big Ten game of the year. Michigan is 10-4 overall and 1-0 in the Big Ten.

The former Archbishop Williams standout is the one of two seniors on the team and is bouncing back after sitting out last year with a knee injury. The 6'4'' center-forward had six points and six rebounds in an 83-75 win over Pittsburgh, Nov. 20.

The Wolverines will play Wisconsin at home, Thursday, Jan. 9, at 7 p.m.
