Paul, Jackson Lead Stoughton High Track at Hockomock League Championships

The Stoughton High boys' and girls' spring track teams recently competed in the Hockomock League Championship meet. Jade Paul and Steffan Jackson were Stoughton's leading scorers.

The Stoughton High boys' outdoor track team in a meet held earlier this spring season, and as a result, both teams earned a share of the boys' . Fittingly both teams tied again at the Hockomock League Track and Field Championship, held May 17 at Oliver Ames. 

Stoughton and OA finished tied for fifth with 43 points each, ahead of fellow Davenport schools Sharon, Canton and Foxboro. 

All 10 Hockomock teams competed on both the boys' and girls' sides.

The Stoughton boys' were led by Steffan Jackson, who finished second in the 110-meter hurdles, second in the high jump and was part of the second place 4 x 100-meter relay team along with Aaron Mack, Marcus Middleton and Malachi Baugh.

The Stoughton girls finished seventh overall, with 32 points, good for third in the Davenport behind Foxboro and Oliver Ames, but ahead of Canton and Sharon.

Jade Paul led the Stoughton girls' winning the Hockomock title in the 800-meter run. She was also part of the second place 4 x 400-meter relay team, along with Amy Kelly, Julia Quattrucci and Kelly Barros.

Mansfield won the boys' championship and North Attleboro took home the girls' title. 

On the boys' side, Malachi Baugh finished third in the 200-meter; Brandon Alves finished third in the shot put; Nick Green was fourth in the mile; Aaron Calixte placed fifth in the javelin; and Aaron Mack was sixth in the 100m. 

Coach Blonder said "The meet was highly successful for a large portion of the team with personal or season bests recorded by Baugh, Alves, Nick Green, Calixte, Jackson, as well as Alec DeNapoli, Paul Comeau, Matt Mack, Marcus Middleton, Jack D'Addieco, Nya Domkam, Shawn Connolly, Andrew Valle and Joey Wilder."

On the girls' side, in addition to Paul's title, Chrystal Holland finished third in the shot put; Alicia Macomber finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles; Ariene Ohimor finished fifth in the discus and Ifeoma Okeke finished sixth in the 100-meter.
