How the Nine Stoughton Runners Fared at the 2011 Boston Marathon

James White, 30, paced the Stoughton runners at this year's Boston Marathon, finishing in 2:53:23.

Nine Stoughton residents, ranging in age from 22 to 59, made the 26.2 mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston on Monday, running in the 115th Boston Marathon.

The Stoughton field included seven males (Kevin Borst, William Coulter, Michael Griffiths, Nathan Smileye, Barry Sussman, Gregory Swartz and James White) and two females (Mauryanne Remondini and Maria Zullo).

Thirty-year-old James White led the Stoughton bunch finishing in less than three hours, completing the course in 2 hours 53 minutes and 23 seconds (2:53:23). White ran at a 6:37 per mile pace, finishing 772nd out of almost 27,000 runners.

Geoffrey Mutai of Kenya won the men’s race in a record time of 2:03:02. The top American finisher was California’s Ryan Hall, who came in fourth at 2:04:58.

Caroline Kilel of Kenya won the women’s race, finishing in 2:22:36. She edged Michigan’s Desiree Davila, who came in second at 2:22:38, two seconds behind Kilel.

Masazumi Soejima of Japan won the men’s wheelchair race, while Wakako Tsuchida of Japan won the women’s wheelchair race. Virginia’s Christopher Ayres won the men’s handcycles race, while Massachusetts’ Kelly Brush won the women’s handcycles race.
