Week 4 Recap
Despite upsetting host Mansfield 8-0 last season, the pundits did not give Stoughton much of a chance in the rematch this year, but the Black Knight players didn't write their team off and came away with a dominating victory against Mansfield Friday in Stoughton. Led by a defense which forced four turnovers and shutdown a potent Mansfield offense and thanks to four rushing touchdowns from fullback Frankie Morris, Stoughton (4-0) jumped out to a 25-0 lead and beat the Hornets (2-2) in a rain-soaked affair. Foxborough beat North Attleboro at home Friday night, for its first win in the series between the Hockomock rivals since 2009. On defense, Foxborough created four turnovers – two interceptions and two fumbles. Both interceptions led to Warriors' touchdowns. Kiivone Howard paced the Foxborough offense, scoring two rushing touchdowns. He now has 11 touchdowns through the first four games of the season. Foxborough improves to 3-1, while NA falls to 3-1. After falling from the ranks of the Hockomock's unbeaten last week at Lowell, Franklin bounced back at home vs. Oliver Ames, handing the Tigers their first loss of the season Saturday night. Jeremiah Troy returned the opening kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown to give OA (3-1) a 7-0 lead and OA maintained that lead going into the half. But Franklin (3-1) scored three consecutive second half touchdowns to pull ahead. Greg Cummings caught a touchdown from quarterback Nick Cicado in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit, but the Tigers were unable to score again. Click here for a full recap.
Junior quarterback Tim Walsh had two touchdown passes (to senior Corey Martinez and senior Luke Morrison), while running back Malique Clark reached the end zone twice to give the Bombardiers (4-0) a 26-20 win over Canton (1-2) Friday night. The Bulldogs scored touchdowns on three running plays by seniors Dexter Green (who had two, including one for 57 yards) and Elias Camacho. With the game tied at 14 going into the half, Attleboro scored twice in the second half to pull ahead 26-14, and eventually held on for the six-point win. Click here for a full recap.
Sharon 21, Taunton 20
Fresh off being named the New England Patriots' High School Football Coach of the Week, Dave Morse's Sharon squad pulled out a dramatic, last second victory in week 4 vs. Taunton on Saturday. After Taunton scored to go ahead 20-14 with 30 seconds to play, Sharon orchestrated a touchdown drive in the final seconds. On the final play of the game, Sean O'Neill threw an 18-yard TD to Brad Kaufman to tie the game and Eric Lessar's extra point won it. Sharon is now 4-0 on the season. Joe Johnston led the way for King Philip with 173 yards rushing and a touchdown as the Warriors improved to 4-0 Friday night against visiting Dartmouth in the only non-league game of week 4. John Dillon had a touchdown pass (to Ryan Dunn) and a touchdown run in the win as KP jumped out a 20-0 lead before Dartmouth got the final score, but it was too little, too late.
