Highlights From The Stoughton High Football Team's Loss to NA [VIDEO]

Check out the highlight montage (in the media gallery) from the Stoughton High football team’s to North Attleboro last Thursday on the road.

Stoughton went up 14-0 in the first half as Alex Fernandes threw two touchdowns to Marcus Middleton, but the Red Rocketeers chipped away at the lead, tying the game at the end of the third quarter.

The Black Knights put together a drive late in the fourth quarter, getting in position to attempt a game winning field goal with three seconds left, but NA’s Alex Jette used his speed to come off the edge and get his hand on the ball, blocking the kick and sending the game into overtime.

In the first overtime, Aaron Mack scored for Stoughton (followed by a Fernandes extra point), but NA answered when they got the ball, with quarterback Spyro Varetimos finding Paul Norris in the corner of the end zone.

Instead of attempting a game-tying extra point, NA went for a two-point conversion and the win. Varetimos found Norris again, this time on a screen, giving the Red Rocketeers the 22-21 victory.

Stoughton, 3-2 on the season (2-1 in the Hockomock League and 1-0 in the ), plays West Springfield at home Friday at 7 p.m.

West Springfield is also 3-2. The team has had some second quarter woes the last two games (1-1), giving up 41 points combined to Longmeadow and Chicopee in that quarter during those respective contests.

Ty Mann is a threat throwing and running the ball for West Springfield. Dan Jonah leads the team receiving and Randy Guyette is the leading rusher.
