In a battle between two of the top teams in the Hockomock League's Davenport Division, a depleted Stoughton High girls' basketball team put up a fight, but fell 50-37 to unbeaten Oliver Ames Friday at home.

OA and Stoughton were tied 9-9 at the end of the first quarter, but the Tigers outscored the Black Knights 21-5 in the second quarter to take a 30-14 lead into the half en route to victory.

OA extended the lead to 42-19 after three quarters. Stoughton outscored OA 18-8 in the fourth, but it was not enough.

The Tigers are now 10-0, while Stoughton falls to 7-3.

Stoughton was without many players due to injury or illness, including starters Emma Zuk and Ariene Ohimor, and LeiAndra Busby, who started in place of Zuk this past Tuesday vs. Mansfield.

Nicole Daniels led Stoughton with 10 points. Mackenzie McGrath added 9 points; Ashley Medeiros had 5; Kayla Motley had 4; Alecia Quinones had 4; Marlena Siegel had 3 and Bridgette Whalen had 2.

Caitlyn Abela led Oliver Ames with 16 points while Asia Mitchell added 15.

Stoughton travels to North Attleboro (Tuesday) and Sharon (Friday) next week, while Oliver Ames travels to King Philip (Tuesday) and Foxborough (Friday).
