Photos from the Stoughton High baseball team's season opener against Attleboro Tuesday afternoon. The Black Knights fell 4-0 at home.

On a cold and windy afternoon, Attleboro pitcher Adam Woodhead quieted the Stoughton bats, pitching six shutout innings, and striking out seven, leading the Blue Bombardiers to a 4-0 win at Stoughton on Tuesday.

Stoughton freshman second baseman Jake Gibb had a deep double to centerfield in his first official varsity at bat. Mike Gallagher, Pat Jackman and Pat Raeke also had hits for Stoughton.

Gallagher pitched well for the Black Knights, tossing six innings, and striking out five. Will McGrath pitched a scoreless inning in relief, striking out one.

"They got the bat on the ball more than we did - that's kind of what happens," Stoughton coach Mike Armour said. "I think if we get those seven strikeouts into seven balls in play it's more of a game. We just need to get the bats going. Mikey Gallagher pitched a great game. We didn't really help him out today."

Stoughton will look to bounce back Thursday, April 4 at Franklin.
